JudasIscariot: That all depends on the sales I suppose. Although, I would hope that AoD would ressurect TB based RPGs once again...

They have my money as soon as its released. I'd hope it sells well enough that Vince and co. can continue making more games, at the very least.

At least enough to make Cyclopean...I want to play AoD first before anything else.

JudasIscariot: Also, there is Eschalon Book I, which, by the way, has a sequel coming out soon.

Definitely your money's worth.
I've had a lot of fun with this game and it has that nice old style feel about it.
Also if you like a good Diabloesque game with strategy elements you have to try out Depths of Peril
Edit:
@Almak, could you also post in your first post which new games you might try out.

Yeah, Age of Decadence is looking good. I'll probably pick that one up when it comes out.

Don't quite understand what you mean by new. New as in the new games coming out or new as in new to me, from recommendations in this thread? Wouldn't be very practical in either case because in the former case the list is very short in the later however its very long.

Sorry if I was unclear.
No what I meant was, could you edit your first post and place the games which people here have recommended and which you are going to play in the near future. That way if this post grows to a ginourmours length, new posters simply have to look at the OP to see if you already are planning to play the game they were going to recommend to you.
Hope this clarifies it.
If not, it's your fault....
Our mine. In this highly unlikely event please tell me what you thought you understood by my message and then I will once again try to explain it.
Hey it's snowing :)
Yeah its probably best that I did that (and so I did)! :P I now included the list of games that interested me the most based on the discussions in the thread. That however doesnt mean that I'm not open for further suggestions or that the thread suddenly has come to an end. This is shaping up to be a fantastic resource for RPG talk in general, so lets keep it going guys! :)
@Zhirek: Its snowing here as well! ;D

Snow always makes me feel happy for some reason.
I live in the southern most part of Sweden (Skåne), it rarely if ever snows here. And when it does it usually melts pretty fast. Which is in itself pretty daunting considering that I'm originally from Russia and do enjoy a good winter snow.

Well I'll probably give mount and blade demo a try but what I don't like about it is that I have to manage a large army of warriors (or at least that's what it seems like from the info I red). I'm not really into that.

sheepdragon: Looks pretty cool... What's it like/comparable with?

Sort of an SSI Gold Box game with a Ultima 3-6 feel, but without the crazy learning curves and reliance on documentation.

I've played the demo and didn't manage a damn solider. It's not exactly easy but you can kill ten or twelve men by yourself with just a little experience.
Also, the best RPG I've played this last year was King's Bounty: The Legend (my personal GOTY).

I heard about it. Its said to be a HOMM spiritual successor, what turned me off of it is the fact that unlike HOMM there is no city building in it. But the basic idea of the game apart from that is very interesting. I'll probably give the demo a try though.

I love the HOMM series, but King's Bounty is much more RPG than HOMM and way more addictive (on single player, which is the mode the game is focused).

lukaszthegreat: you must play troika's two greatest games.
Arcanum
Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines (available on steam and d2d)
remember to install unofficial patch for both of them.

Didn't Troika fold?
