You can also try (besides the already mentioned Tex Murphy, Gabriel Knight etc): Heavy Rain, Police Quest, Blade Runner, Jack Orlando
You can get Police Quest and Jack Orlando also from GOG (and also Tex Murphy and Gabriel Knight too)... Phew.. That's a lot of games for you :)

If you can get it - Cruise for a Corpse is also recommended.

Not in, already have me a copy backlogged. :P

Pretty much the entire series of Sherlock Holmes games from Frogwares, also for older Holmes titles (which would be awesome to have here on GOG!!!) give 'The Lost files of Sherlock Holmes' games a go, 'the case of the serrated scalpel' and 'the case of the rose tattoo' were pretty much the inspiration for frogwares later titles.

goodrobbo: Journeyman Project: Buried in Time on gog. Best.
Sadly, no. Just the subsequent games in the series.
Angelica Weaver: Catch Me When You Can is supposed to be a good detective game. It is currently available in the Groupees Be Mine 9 bundle.
Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper...imo a good detective games (the best of Sherlock Holmes series till now)

Count me in, thank you very much!
Not in, but I recommend the Gabriel Knight series.
Not in.

The old "Lost files of Sherlock Holmes" are some of the best detective games I've ever played. "The case of the serrated scalpel" is one of my all time favourite adventure games.
ohh... and The Colonel's Bequest was fun.
Dick Tracy, on the NES
Thread hijack. I just remembered a detective game on the C64. The cases where semi-random and each potential murderer was modelled on famous detectives, for example Poirot, Ms. Marple, Holmes and Marlow. The main screens were like different files where you searched for clues, and you could call the suspects and talk to them on the phone. I seem to remember that the main music was "When I'm 64", for some reason. But at the moment I just can not remember the name of it....
Not in.
If you like Hercule Poirot, then I suggest Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun, Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express or Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None.
Not In. +1

How about Deadline - graphics are over rated! ;)
I'm going to go along with just about everyone else here and also suggest Tex Murphy and Gabriel Knight. Blotunga mentioned Police Quest and while not strictly a detective series you definitley get to solve crimes, but you have to do it by the book. It'a not on GOG (yet) but you could also try Cognition. It's about an FBI agent hunting down serial killers who also has mild psychic powers. She can pick up an object and get visions about something that happened. It's a four part episodic game and only 1-3 have been released so far.

Oh, and not in as I don't use Steam.
in & +1! I remember playing a lot as a kid tex murphy overseer,it was like a 4554 cds or something :P

I barely remember it but scenes have somewhat stuck with me,and a good "fuzzy" feeling too :)
