Avadon The Black Fortress! Great game.

I somewhat could recommend the Eschalon book 1 & 2 games. They're interesting but they have balance issues that just come in the way too much. The problem is that the game feels like it's too hard until you find a good build then it's like cheating so there's no sweet middle ground.
What about Silent Storm? Perhaps it's more of a tactical game with the only RPG elements being occasional level ups and skill gains but it's a really fun turn-based game. At least take a look at a gameplay vid.

Devspar: So, Fallout series, Arcanum, Temple of Elemental Evil, Wizardy 8. Got it. Anything else?

AFnord: Geneforge, Avernum, Avadon on GOG and Nethergate from Steam or Spiderweb software's own website (should be cheaper on steam, Spiderweb has an odd pricing system).
The Realms of Arkania series, if you can live with the dated graphics and lack of user friendliness (I found 3 to be the best one).
Eschalon book 1 & 2, if you don't mind a solo experience.
The older Ultimas (pre 7), again, if you can live with the dated graphics & lack of user friendliness. I found 5 to be the best of these, but 4 is also solid. 1-3 have not aged all that well.

Also, it might be worth seeing if you can track down the old D&D Goldbox games. There are a few collections containing them, including Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Collector's Edition, The Forgotten Realms Archives & Forgotten Realms Classics. Check amazon or ebay for these. The later two don't contain all goldbox titles, but they do contain plenty of other games, like the excellent (but not turnbased) Eye of the Beholder series.
Ultimas 1-4 you mean?
Don't forget that Ultima 4 and the 2 World of Ultima games (which IIRC, use the Ultima 5 era engine) can be added to you shelf for free here!
Eschalon is the best.
Actually, if you go into options and turn most of the autopause options on, the Infinity Engine games (Baulders Gate, Icewind Dale, Planscape Torment) play kind of psudo-turn based (you can issue orders to your party while paused)
They are also some of the most highly regarded cRPGs ever (especially Baulders Gate 2 and Torment) so I'd recommend them to anyone

Darklands is often cited as a proto-Infinity Engine game with similar pause-issue orders gameplay and a unique close to real world historical setting, not played it myself yet though...

Phaidox: Umm... Devspar asked for a list of TURN BASED cRPGs.
Umm... please quote me the exact part of the op's thread where they said what you assume they said? I must be supremely blind so help me out please.

title.
Drakensang.
A bit of a stretch but the tactics ogre series and fire embelm series might be worth a look
None. Turn-based is boring.

Grab Nox here on GOG and go have yourself some good old fashion FUN!

[EDIT] Should be noted turn-based is boring *to me*. I was just trying to promote Nox in a funny way, didn't mean any disrespect.

Anachronox.

Stooner: Anachronox.
Anachonox is a western RPG with JRPG style (more or less) turn based combat but in that Japanese 'select an ability from a list' way so it might not be what you had in mind
it IS excellent though and alternates between combat light adventuring sections with a crazy 'just go with it' sence of humour which has the odd moment that genuinely made me laugh

Good idea. When it comes to tactical, squad-based combat games with light RPG elements tossed in to spice the gameplay up, Silent Storm and Jagged Alliance 2 are definitely worth recommending.

Worlds of Ultima uses the Ultima 6 engine (which I hate...)
And no, I meant to recommend 4 & 5. 1-3 have not aged well, in my opinion, and while 4 & 5 still feel a bit crude by today's standards, I do find them to be playable. 5 has better writing than 4.
All turn based RPGs are pretty good, I can't think of one right now that I did not like.
