Okay, well, here we go again. On the encouragement of people like adambiser I present for your delectation my second attempt at giving away a copy of System Shock 2.

http://cl.ly/3D230g321o471v3V2Y1v

This is a Korean-English release of the EA Slim Pack version of System Shock 2, which I believe was one of EA's final releases of the game before it went out of print. I got this at a game store which is a veritable museum of retro PC gaming, with boxed Korean copies of SimCity 2000: SE, BattleZone 2: Combat Commander, Marathon 2: Durandal for Win95 (!), CrackDotCom's Abuse (!!), and Warzone: 2100 (!?!?). This game also has the unique distinction of being one of the few Windows games I've aggressively tried - and failed - to run in Wine/Wineskin/CrossOver.

While the packaging is in Korean, the game itself is in English, as far as I know. I had to brave freezing temperatures, surly public transportation drivers who fancy themselves to be F1 drivers, and a bus load of tired, grumpy Koreans to bring this to you. I hope that the winner enjoys the game for what it is instead of putting it up for sale on eBay for a Gazillion Dollars.

Anyway, enough with the tl;dr stuff.

Here's what the deal is:

a) Donate to either Charity:Water, your local Red Cross, or Child's Play (or a charity of your choice, like the IFAW - thanks to Tantrix for raising awareness for this group) for any amount your choose. The amount you pay will not affect how I'll pick the winner, but I'd urge you to please be generous.

b) Post that you've donated to this thread. I won't go to the bother of asking for a receipt, it will be on your honor. If you lie to me, there will be a special level in Hell for you. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theatre.

c) On December 30th, I will randomly pick a winner who posts that they've donated.

d) The winner will get their very own (rare?) Korean-English copy of System Shock 2, with postage paid by me.

Hope this goes over better than the last time...

So, all I have to do is to buy a humble bundle and donate to charity? Sounds good to me.

EDIT: I'll post my donation soon.

Well, I guess it would count (I was actually intending for people to be directly donating). And hey, the HIB/Wolfire Games and the other indie devs get something out of it too.

I would, but I think that's a lame move. I think I'll donate to the IFAW, I was planning to do this for months:

I believe I participated in part one of this giveaway a few months ago. Why did that one not work out?
Very cool of you. Best of luck to everyone.

Hey! I see the thread this time. :D
Nice idea for a giveaway as long as people stay honest, which I think is pretty apt to happen in this community.

I'm not sure I'll be able to participate, but if they're collecting outside of stores still, I will. I think I'll be out this evening, so I'll be able to see then.

Do not include me in the drawing unless I say otherwise.
I've never played SS2.it's better than SS1?
System Shock 2 is crazy in my opinion better than part 1. When I was playing it first time I was truly scared.

Ok time to donate to my local caritas (does buying special candles from which money is donated on food for children count?)
Do I need to play SS1 before the sequel to fully appreciate it?

If I should (like playing Portal before Portal 2 to fully appreciate character interaction) then please ignore this post!

If not (I've never played either), I'd like to be entered.

Instead of buying a Steam game, I donated to Child's Play this weekend via PayPal. I also gave money to the Ronald McDonald House this weekend (and every time we go through the drive through).

Side note: The Ronald McDonald House has helped my family and friends more than I can express. It's a beautiful charity that helps families in need when medical bills or travel expenses for medical care are overwhelming.

Edit: THANK YOU. Sorry, I didn't even express gratitude for the "giveaway" that you are doing. It's a very nice thing to encourage generosity by doing it yourself.

No, System Shock 2 stands well on its own (but System Shock 1 is still well worth your time).

I already own a copy of the game, so I won't rob anyone else of the joy of System Shock 2. Good luck everyone!

It didn't seem to get a lot of replies, so I pretty much let that fizzle out, since it apparently went unnoticed...I thought I put up a message saying as much, but if you feel cheated I totally understand; I sent you a PM to that effect.

No problem! Like you said that other thread just disappeared quickly off the first page, so I wasn't sure what had happened to it. Hopefully this one will get more replies.

A little harder than anticipated since the bell ringers are gone. Gas station didn't have anything for donations either. Perhaps I'll have better luck tomorrow.

At what time will the drawing be, rampancy?
Don't need the game, but just wished to commend you for the good idea.
