So, I saw that pop on the "soon" panels of Steam. I was surprised since I thought it was a playstation series of games, and I'm quite happy to see it coming on PC. If only japanese publishers could be convinced to do that more often...

The thing is: is it worth the preorder? I mean, now on Steam (no arguments about Steam here, okay? That's not the topic) you get a 20% discount for preordering, which is already not bad, but you also get 7 DLCs for free, the list of which follows:

Upgrade Pack 1
Upgrade Pack 2
Dull-Things Pack
Fallen Angel Pack
Magic Fighter Pack
Legendary Monster Pack
Basic Adventure Pack

Those DLCs will be sold separately from the official release day...

As it is a preorder, I can't find any information about the game, and more important, about the contents of those DLCs. Are they real added content? Or some "1 file-5$" type of rip-off?

More important: how long is the game? I've read online that it's a quite long game, but could anybody tell me more about this game?

About its length: it seems that people are clocking in well over 100 hours.
Well. It's an Idea Factory game. So it's like an Idea Factory game.

It's kind of hard to let the uninitiated know what they're getting into @_@

I haven't played it but I've played most of Blazing Souls and a lot of the mechanics (ifem fusion, title winning, monsters, etc.) are probably similar.

You're definitely going to need a guide to get the true ending. And probably need a guide to sort out what heroine to woo to get a child with the skills/stats you want.

DLC is just boosters, extra items, etc. (and no, IF didn't go out of their way make the game grindy to force you to buy booster DLC, several of their games that don't have DLC are pretty much the same x.X)
Thanks for all your answers everybody!

A pity I hadn't the idea to search for the wiki myself... Guess I'm not yet accustomed to people building wiki of games they love. I'm stuck with the old wikipedia...

170 hours of gameplay is a hell lot of time, but at least I can't complain for the shortness of the game! :p

I'll definitely consider about buying this game, probably in preorder since the DLCs are mostly cosmetic things. :)

Guarantee you most of those hours will be grinding on random encounters

Yeah, that is what is keeping me from instabuying this game... Is the grinding really that bad in that game? If the 170 hours of gameplay are constituted of 70 hours of grinding, then that's not a game for me.

Haven't played it... but that is what I've read from most people who have.... Right down to the DLC on the PS3 version being necessary if you don't want to go through loooooong periods of grinding for levels
Ah... Then I might wait...

Thanks for the infos! ;)

I haven't played it, but according to TV tropes, the grinding seems to be completely optional.
Now that's not necessarily reliable, but I've found most of the TV trope pages for games I've played to be reasonably accurate (but spoiler-heavy).
Just go ahead and buy it. Let them know that we want more of these games translated and made to PC!
aaahhhhhhhhhhhh, guys! You're confusing me! ^_^

Now, if the grinding is at least somewhat optional, that changes almost everything!

KneeTheCap> I know, right? If only they could release some of the games I see here... maybe we would have a "Good Porn Games" section here on GOG ? ^_^

I'd totally buy them all :)

I can't be bothered to check, but does the GOG wishlist have entries like "moar japanese translated games" and "moar real-adult games" entries?

Anyway, I'll probably end up preordering Agarest over the week-end, even if I don't have the slightest clue about when I could play it...

I think I once made a thread about adult games here, but it got a rather poor reception. Maybe people here (or in general) don't consider them games? I even talked with a dev about the thread, they took a peek and decided not to take part because of the hostility.

In any case, I pre-ordered this. I want more of these games translated and brought to PC.
