...but you must pay for the upgrade. Of course the developer said it would give the DLC for free, then on release day, bum, 50% off discount only.

Too many developers are doing this thing, but at least Daedalic gave the update for free.

EDIT: Just one word. It's okay to offer an upgrade paying some money. It's not right asking money AFTER you said the update would be free, there's the point of discussion.

Yes but Daedalic only did so after a huge outcry of foul from the people who already owned the game, they initially planned to charge previous owners for the update too. This is why I respect and love CD Projekt RED as they genuinely care about their customers unlike other developers and publishers that are constantly looking for ways to screw over the consumers.
Yeah, I saw this. I'm getting sick of the Director's Cut trend in general.. The last 2 director's cuts I've seen (Deus Ex, Strike Suit Zero) have been very sloppy cash grabs. I hope the QUBE dev comes to his senses, but it may be too late since he's already charging for it (Daedalic managed to change their mind before you could buy it). Surely the negative PR won't be worth it..

I see that the customers have taken these news very well...
Enhanced Steam reports All Time Peak players: 1. That's mighty impressive..

Yes I know, and I agree with you totally.
Sigh... not this again...

At the same time FTL was upgraded to Advanced Edition with no extra cost for existing customers (we got that for free) nor for new ones (the price of the game was NOT increased). And what's also important - it would be justifiable to pay extra for this new content because it's really something meaningful, changing the gameplay (not like Daedalic with their audio commentary + achievements). But no, they've decided to make this upgrade for free which is just awesome. Watch and learn people, watch and learn! I've already bought two more copies of FTL (at full price, not during a sale!) to thank them for this. And I'm not done yet, I will support them as much as I can ;)

As for Q.U.B.E. I don't have this game and it's not gonna to change ;)
And...

I like the way Royale said "This is NOT the Director's Cut" so clearly. That was good thinking, and will probably save them a lot of complaints, given the potential for confusion.

Why does every director nowadays get cut? If they want cut versions, they should come to Germany!

Initially, it wasn't there. I guess some complaining fixed that.
Does the Director's Cut include a version that doesn't swallow your savegame files when you're halfway through and take a break for a while? :P

I asked them about that on Twitter and the guy said "Not the Director's Cut." Looks like they're not too happy either.
The best model in my opinion is if comes with dlcs to charge users less per owned item. Meaning if you have all of it the update is free, and if you have some of it the difference is the price of what you were missing. In this case if he said it was going to be free and then charged for it, it was because not everyone owns the dlc and he didn't want to give it away. Not that it added anything significant anyway, and not saying it's justifiable to go back on something if you said you were going to do it.

It's a way to sell a game as GOTY when it wasn't the GOTY.

Yeah, I've read that this seems to happen far too many times. But how is the QUBE game? is it any good?
