As you all know, Quakecon 2013 is currently ongoing and Steam and Green Man Gaming are offering special prices for Bethesda/id games.

I was kind of hoping GoG would have reached a deal with the publisher for its back catalog to be available here, too. I'm actually holding out on buying Doom, Heretic, Wolfenstein, Quake etc. because there is no advantage to having them on Steam, old games being sold "as is" (still regret buying the Commandos series on Steam).

I'm keeping my faith that, one day, GoG will make it happen. What about you guys? Are you holding out like myself?

I keep holding out, but I feel with Bethesda there is probably little hope.
Yeah, I'm holding out with quite a few games. STALKER for one. And many others.

If that's the case, the available Fallout games are hanging by a thread if Bethesda decides to retract Interplay's rights to sell them.

I'm holding out as well, though I do still have my physical copies of lots of id, Raven, and Bethesda's games. But I'll buy them again in a heartbeat if they land here. I don't know why it seems that Zenimax (as well as Take Two) won't make any exceptions for having their old games on GOG while EA, Square Enix, and the like are okay with it.
I'm pissed that I bought Heretic/Hexen collection for 6 bucks during the summer sale since I thought it wouldn't go down below 40% in sales again, and here it's now on sale for $2.50 - 75% off - in the quakecon sale.

I could have waited and bought it and Quake 2. :(

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that the rights revert back on Jan 1st 2014 and if anyone wants the Fallout games on GOG to buy before then.

I think it would be good for Bethesda games to show up here, but I already have all the games from them an ID that I want on CD for PC.

Edit: From the Fallout series wiki page.

In 2012, in a press conference Bethesda revealed that in exchange for 2 million dollars, Interplay gave to them full rights for Fallout Online. Interplay's rights to sell and merchandise Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel will expire on December 31, 2013.

So yeah, from how we haven't heard a peep about Bethesda at all, anyone who wants the games before then should buy them.

With quality source ports available for most of the classic id FPS, there's not much of an advantage to having them on GOG. They would look nice on the shelf however. :)

Good to know. I wonder if GOG will be able to swing it the other way. Hey Bethesda, look at all this lovely money the Fallout games made on GOG, now that you have acquired games already hosted on GOG and see all these pretty dollars, how about you let us sell the rest of your old IPs?
Bethesda does not like region-free stores, so we'll probably never see their games here.
Anybody else watching the Quake Live tournaments? So far there had been some amazing games.

I bought the bundle years ago and never had any issue getting any of the really old games to work. The ones that took a little effort(I had to do some kind of work around for them but it wasn't much trouble) were some of the more middle aged games like Castle Wolfenstein and Call of Cthulu.
