Just saw this video for a game named Pengo. This game reminds me of an arcade game very similar to this but the name escapes me. Thought I would ask you guys, maybe you guys can help me recall. What I can remember is that the game had a similar concept but had better graphics and a lot of different characters.

Sorry can't help you with the name of the game but I'm just letting you know that video made me seek out about 5 other versions of that "Popcorn" song.
Sorry I don't know what game you are trying to remember, but thanks of reminding me of a coin op game in which I used insane amounts of coins as a kid. I used to like Pengo a lot.

For now I can't think of any "Pengo-clones", even if there may have been some. From what year roughly? Apparently a newer game than Pengo, if it had better graphics? Are you sure it was a coin op game, and not e.g. a console game?

It sure was a coin op game.. threw away lot of coins and hours on it as a kid in the arcade.. I think it was in early 90's not sure and it definitely had no penguins... main character might have been a rabbit and I also remember some dragons

There were. Pengo itself was apparently released with 2 different titles on the C64, and [url=http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=1913]Petch (I remember playing Petch back then), but there were also clones. Percy Penguin seems to be a clone, and I've read about a game called Chilly Willy which also appears to be one.
I remember playing a lot of Pango on a Ericsson PC-XT with monochrome screen (brown/yellow). I didn't get very far, but still was fun.
it's not the game you were thinking of but Bubble Trouble(X) by Ambrosia Software is a shareware game that's very similar.
