tinyE: You said they took your money and didn't give you the game. That is not true.

JPaterson84: From what I could see on my end, without knowing of any bug, yes, it appeared that way. The reason was caused by a bug.

Now that it's been solved, I apologized for that particular comment and retract it.
Fair enough, sorry for being pissy,
Trust me, we aren't all as obnoxious as myself and I hope this doesn't deter you from using GOG.

JPaterson84: There is a reason. A bug. Which has been explained.

I think his complaint was rather valid. He bought a game and couldn't access it. I'd not have a very high view of anybody to whom I gave money but I received no goods.

To the OP, I hope you enjoy Theme Hospital! I love that game.

Haha. TinyE, you do have your obnoxious days. But you are a hoot. I for one am glad you're here.

No worries, I'm just as pissy on a good day. ;)

And no, it won't deter me. Now that I know it's a display issue, I'll continue to purchase games here. I already have over twenty in my wishlist that I'll be buying and downloading throughout the week.

Tallima: I definitely will enjoy it. I lost many hours to it as a kid (that and Theme Park), and I'm looking forward to having a working copy on my current system.

tinyE: Regardless of how ridiculous it is, I think you owe GOG an apology.
avatar
JPaterson84: I owe them an apology because of an issue not caused by me, that is nowhere to be found on the website saying "hey, we're aware of this", to let people know?

Hmm, nope. I appreciate the quick support time from Chimercial, and the e-mail response from the support team, however.
just ignore tinyE... We all do, for the most part anyway
Thank goodness for this thread and google. Here's the post I sent to support last night:
--
Okay, so my first time trying to buy a game through GOG isn't going so well. I first tried to buy Spelunky last night. All I could ever get was 505 Internal Errors. So I tried to buy it tonight and it succeeded. I go to the Spelunky page and it says "owned - redownload?" But then I go to My Games and it does not show up at all. Nothing shows up in the GOG Downloader.

This isn't going so well for me. I hope sending this message doesn't cause my cpu to fuse to the motherboard.
--

I tried the refresh link to no avail. Finding this thread sounded like a solution, but I had no games to hide/unhide since this was my first shot giving GOG a try. So I tried adding a free one and that instantly made Spelunky show up, too. After downloading it, out of curiosity I tried hiding the free game I have no interest in; Spelunky got hidden, too.

Trying to cut them some slack because holiday staffing is always hard. But from this thread it appears it's a longstanding bug. I hope someone higher up at GOG finds this completely unacceptable and is doing everything they can to fix it. The same game was available on steam and on GOG for the exact same price. Were I to care any less about DRM, I would have just bought it from steam and told GOG to refund my money when someone got around to reading my email.

Fix this bug. Not because I'm telling you to, but because it's one of the worst impressions you could possibly make on new customers.
