Oh great. Now I probably can't go anywhere (domestically) without hearing about it for the next 16 years.

I actually rarely watch icehockey and now that I did, Finland won. I 'd like to think it was all because of me.

Welcome to the club :)) (it was Slovakia in 2002) And everyone will be bashing your team for the next ten years, reminding them that they need to do it again... no pressure :)

I was actually in Finland when they beat Canada in the world cup thing a few years ago. Maybe 4 years ago? Me, my friends and pretty much the whole of Helsinki sat on those steps outside that landmark building. It was pretty surreal since ice hockey hasn't even got the slightest of followings in the UK, it may possibly be on randomly at about 3AM in the morning on TV but not with any consistency. Despite feeling like I was watching something like the arm wrestling world cup, the whole city was ecstatic and totally crazy about the victory and we couldn't help get swept up into it even though we didn't personally care about the victory. Stranger still since we had a very pissed off Canadian with us.
