Shadowcat: I was vaguely contemplating a hand-held recently too, and I've settled upon waiting for the Pandora to be finished, rather than buying anything currently available.
It's well worth taking a few minutes to read about:

HOLY SHIT! Who is manufacturing that and when does it hit the US?
Some guy is making that. Too bad they made a few from the first batch (whatever the hell that means), I really wanted one, but $330 is a bit much for a Linux handheld. Yes, a LINUX HANDHELD. It's cool, but with things like the EEE PC, I don't know how it can compete. Well, maybe with them gaming controls.
I still want one, though.

They've had their fair share of delays in the design and manufacture, but it sounds like things really are in the final stages, and the first batch (of around 4,000) should be shipped out before the end of the year.
I would hazard a guess that the next batch would be available sometime early in the new year, but if you follow those links you should find out pretty much everything you want to know.
I rather doubt this will be in any retail stores, though, if that's what you were wondering? Not unless there is some serious demand (which would be great for the OP team, but probably not realistic), and not soon regardless.
They'll be doing FCC testing quite soon, though, for U.S. approval, and you can order it online.
Myself, I'm waiting to see the feedback from the first batch before ordering one, just to be certain (given the price), but it's all sounding extremely promising.

PSP screen broke. Pissed off, might buy an Ipod for music instead. PSP Go will have to wait...

I replaced my screen after my dog stepped on it, and I found the new one for $20 shipped, so it was definitely worth it.

Was it complicated to replace the screen? Mine has a small blemish that I'd prefer to be rid of if I can do it really cheap
