I bought a PS3 for my son's birthday, and I have a question. We like to play some of the same games, but he prefers to play them in Danish (where possible) while I prefer to play them in English. However, I haven't been able to find any language settings in any of our games. The only way I can switch the in-game language is to change the system language of the PS3. Is this normal? On the PS2, all games that had multiple languages had the ability to change the language inside the game. But even with a PS3 remake of a PS2 game, such as the Sly Trilogy, this option is no longer there. This means that when I use the PS3, I have to change the system language to English, and then remember to change it back to Danish when I'm done.

Is this universal on the PS3? Do no PS3 games have language options in-game? If so, I'd say that's a completely moronic design choice.

I hate to bump my own thread, but I'm amazed I haven't gotten a single reply. I know there are lots of PS3 owners here, and given the international nature of the community, I assume I'm not the only one who has occasion to play PS3 games in more than one language.

So the question still stands: do any PS3 games have in-game language settings, or do they all use the system settings to determine the language? I have googled and found no definite answer.

I don't even remember anymore. Years ago I set my PS3 to German. Sometimes I had to set it back to English, sometimes I didn't. I don't recall anything having in-game language settings other than Capcom fighters.

To my best knowledge the only way of doing this, sort of, would be to set up a second user account and just use danish on that as default system language. Then at least you won't need to hassle with changing it everytime when you don't feel like playing Crysis 2 in danish or something.

No can do. My son and I already have separate profiles (savegames are locked to the profile). Unfortunately, the system settings are just that, system-wide settings. They are not unique to the profile. So if I change the language to English, it's still English when he logs in.

Especially since there already is a profile system. It would be so easy to put settings that are a matter of personal preference (such as language) on the profile rather than the system itself.
