You're cool as always GOG, this is cheaper than buying the original games separately (if they weren't on sale, of course)

Instabuy! : D

So... Let me get this straight...
In this game, there is a mode, where you play ... a dog. Right? And what do you do? Bite people's legs off?

Lunick: For some people who don't know, this is a REBOOT, not a REMAKE.

The game also has multiplayer for Steam users and GOG users. The Steam version will just have VAC secure servers as well as the normal servers that GOG will be able to connect to. But this also requires a login system.

Crosmando: I'm pretty sure it is a remake. You can see in the trailer/screens that same levels from Dark War, but in better graphics.
I'm pretty sure that if you look around for press releases, you will see people calling it a reboot or a revival.

It isn't a remake and the levels looking similar to Dark War? Bit of a stretch there.

tinyE: Anyone want to gift me the three free games?

Anyone?

Bueller?

mrking58: I'm buying the game in after I get paid in 2 weeks, so I will gift you Rise of the Triad: Dark War and Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
Someone just sent me the codes, thanks anyway my friend.
Looks tempting. Had a lot of fun with the original.
Looks pretty cheap, but not in the good sense.

I'll pass. I'll try to play Dark War instead. :P

so the Steam edition will have VAC-secure servers? doesn't that mean the "normal" servers - the ones you'll play on if you have the GOG edition - won't be protected at all?!?

I know they said there would be a CD key and you would be banned if you were caught cheating, but how exactly do they intend to catch you without a system like VAC or PunkBuster in place?
I used to play the demo for the original Rise of the Triad quite a lot as a kid and really liked it. One particular musical track comes to mind and I hope it makes a re-appearance in this game as well. If this really is a tribute to old school FPS, I hope it has all the elements including very complex map designs, lots of enemies, challenge, etc. In other words, more like the original doom and not so much like Serious Sam which had a very high enemy count but ended up being a linear series of arenas in which you fight them.

I'll have to retract the VAC, it's not listed on their Steam page.
I've got a question for them,
what kind of technologies, languages, Integrated development kits were used to create ROTT? and also what previous projects had the developers worked on?

I don't think it will have VAC protection. Steam games that support it usually have "Valve Anti-Cheat Enabled" listed in the features (Modern Warfare 2, Team Fortress 2). The ROTT reboot doesn't have this on the Storefront page.

I personally do think you're overstating the effectiveness of VAC. There are relatively few online games with VAC support on Steam (probably around 30-40, of which maybe 20 at most are actively played) and many of those that do use it have problems with rampant cheating all the same (CoD, Team Fortress 2). I obviously can't say whether ROTT will have its own anti-cheat system, but VAC isn't the panacea that you're making it out to be, nor is the lack of it automatic proof that it'll be a cheater's heaven.

This is done using Unreal Engine 3(fully licensed, not just the UDK). Interceptor Entertainment is a new studio that as a studio has only worked on Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded prior to this. Although some of the Reloaded team has moved on to other jobs and they have hired other new people on to the ROTT team. The ROTT team is distributed all over the world, all though they have a HQ in Herning, Denmark where their founder and CEO is.

Some members of their team have various levels of prior experiences in the industry while others are new comers to the industry. Perhaps their most experienced team member is their CCO Khaled Ibrahimi wos was Cinematic Director on Killzone 3.As an Unreal Engine 3 game it is programmed in C++, Unrealscript and presumably HLSL for the shaders.
I was a bit confused at first as I didn't know there was a reboot/remake being done.

First thought was "Pre-order Rise of the Triad? Isn't that already here? Is this an old thread thats been necro'd"

I then failed to read the actual post, and clicked straight on the trailer and thought "Wow".

Loved the eyeballs hitting the screen and the "Exterminate"
Here, have a question:

What does Interceptor plan to work on after Rise Of The Triad releases? Perhaps a sequel to ROTT if the remake does well enough? :P
