We didn't choose the thug life. We've been blessed with it by fate.

Omerta: City of Gangsters, an organized crime simulation that will let you dominate 1920s Atlantic City as a mafia boss, is available for pre-order on GOG.com for only $33.99. That's 15% off the regular price! The offer ends on Thursday, January 31, at 10:59AM GMT, when the game is released.

Omerta. Remember the word. Back in the day, I wouldn't have to lay it out for you, kid. Everybody knew how it works, even a complete cafone. You don't talk to the law. There. Easy as that. Anyone who talks is a rat. And a rat deserves to be popped, just as any vermin. So, whether you are a made man, a goodfella, a wiseguy, or just a thug, you live by that one simple rule. You never talk. Even if the coppers ask you to rat out your worst enemy. Even if by telling them something you could easily wipe out your whole competition. You don't do that. You just don't. Unless you want to end up like Eddie the Eel. Funnily enough, it turned out that he couldn't swim. At least not in the concrete boots he couldn't. But I digress, kid. There's really just one thing you need to remember: Omerta. As in: shut your pie-hole. Capisce?

Omerta: City of Gangsters brings life to the prohibition-era Atlantic City, where you struggle for power against the law enforcement and--most notably--other mob families. It's a multi-layered urban simulation complete with turn-based tactical combat. You're an aspiring gangster slowly recruiting a gang of partners in crime, working your way up the criminal food-chain, and hoping to--one day--become the Capo di tutti Cappi, the boss of all bosses. With over 15 hours of gameplay in each unique playthrough, 20 detailed territories to claim as your own, and a cooperative or competitive multiplayer modes Omerta: City of Gangsters is the organized crime simulator we've been waiting for!

Pre-order Omerta: City of Gangsters before Thursday, January 31, at 10:59AM GMT for only $33.99!

Oh, by the way--since this is a pre-order, this technically doesn't count as our 500th release. You'll have to wait for that till tomorrow, and there's a good reason to visit as then, as we have something special planned to go with that milestone.

But now, back to Omerta:

Very nice offer, since this seems to be a kind of JA/Gangsters Style game i´m looking forward to it. Getting it on my favourite game platform for a good price, is a No Brainer for me :)
I'd rather see Mafia 1 here. That is a GOG, this does not look like one because:
1. Boardwalk Empire ripoff, most games that try to catch a free ride on a highly regarded series are kind of crap, Check the horde of zombie games made after the Walking Dead became famous
2. Graphics are hopefully not the most important feature of this game
3. Judging by dev's experience (Tropico 4) this is probably a strategy game of sorts, if so trailer design is really bad. I mean, let's make a strategy game but focus the trailer on on the shooting and driving...
4. Is this the spiritual continuation of Gangsters 2? Please say no.
5. Omerta is a strong word to use (BTW, first was the mafia law, second was JA2's devs lack of inspiration of a better name for a town :) ), it implies tradition, drama, it implies betrayal and punishment. Not sure if a strategy game could inspire the same but the trailer sure doesn't.
6. While a game featuring the italian mafia should focus more on the respect for the family, tradition, blood bonds, the tradition of the Don, the evolution from poor immigrants to rich businessmen, much like Mafia was, this trailer looks more like an African-american PIMP telling us how he runs this joint, that he owns the air we breathe and that he 'aint toleratin' competition. Really weak!

Let's hope this game is the opposite of Dead Island which had a superb trailer for a rubbish product.
Does this game play like Jagged Alliance 2 or Commandos or something else?

Also is there a demo for it so I can try it out?

Hakim: How come is this game on gog.com? It's neither old, nor created by indie developer, nor is known to be good [yet]
Are you just trying to become another Steam?
Well, remember that GOG.com has re-branded themselves as just GOG. So old and good aren't requirements nor is good (though of course "good" is in the mind of the consumer), but I'm pretty sure GOG's team tested it (they got the screenshots somehow).
Definitely going to buy this. Anyone care to recommend other games that deal with the prohibition/mafia/organized crime era of US history? Thanks.

mondo84: Never heard of this before, but it looks pretty interesting.
It's been on steam for about a month now - you can pre-order it there as well.

To GOG TEAM: +1 respect for you guys out there - this is my first wishlisted game on steam and thanks to you i will buy it from gog.com of course, because chasing this achievements on steam and always on DRM is very frustrating for me. So big THANK YOU for bringing good game here that will be DRM-free!! Cheers!! I wish that one day King's Bounty: Warriors of the North will be in your catalog as well - because playing it on Steam made me angry a few times - especially when your saved games disappear from your computer or when files get corrupted due to error during synchronizing files on Cloud and my PC.
And thanks for starting the New Year with awesome releases!

Xaromir: Am i the only person on the planet who is reminded of Jagged Alliance by the title of that game=
No, of course not - but do not forget that Chaos Chronicles is coming out from JA: Back In Action team. BTW: did you like the new JA? IMHO the game was worse, but it took 100 hours of my life anyway...

It's Turn Based Strategy - just like the old Jagged Alliance 2, but probably with some simplifications, check youtube videos and trailers on steam.

And there is Ku Klux Klan in this game as well - no joke - just check better trailers on youtube or steam!

fuzzybunny566: technically we already reached the 500th game EVER available on GOG, since XII was removed from the catalogue
XII? What is that?

I am a big fan of Haemimont, they produce good quality games and always have (starting with Tzar). As i am no fan of DRM i was about to wait but now i have no reason to hesitate anymore, thanks GOG. Will preorder this asap. I hope you bring other older gems from Haemimont here (like Rising Kingdoms, Glory of the Roman Empire or the Punic Wars).

Happy guy!

Pheace: They publish games I enjoy at least, although granted some could've been better. Port Royale 3, Jagged Alliance Back in Action, Patrician 4, Grand Ages Rome, all games I enjoyed. Dungeons... wish I could enjoy it but I haven't been willing to try yet. M.U.D. TV and Airline Tycoon 2 seem mediocre but I imagine I'll spend some time with them nonetheless.
this. they have plenty of good games in their line-up: Patrician 4, Port Royale 3, Tropico series. even Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is a pretty good game once you come to terms with the fact that it's not a 1:1 remake of JA2. if i wanted to play JA2 i'd play JA2.

Omerta, while interesting, seems like prime Steam deal material to me.
Was really interested with this game but the thing is I was worried after they really messed up Legend of Pegasus and Jagged alliance. Tropico 4 was great but the way they handle their DLCs are aggravating (they are like paradox interactive!!). Port royale 3 was satisfying but it could have been better and they could have released proper expansions or something instead of mini DLCs. Will wait for reviews or something, I really want to get this, the way I see it its got the management aspects like in tropico while having the Jagged alliance fighting mechanic.

I really need a gangster game and I guess this is it. Also I hope GOG eliminates the kalypso launcher or else it would not make a difference getting stuff through steam. Kalypso launcher is annoying as it would let me play vanilla tropico 4 offline but not its DLCs!!
First I was shocked at the price, but then I thought, that well, it's a completely new release from a medium-sized publisher so it's actually kinda okay - it just seems weird because the biggest, most expensive games here cost 30$ and were titles like Alan Wake and ArmA II, which are a few years old now, so it kinda makes sense.

Not interested very much in the genre (but if it were Expeditions: Conquistador...) but definitly a big get for GOG.com, and another stepping stone in getting more and more major game releases DRM-free.
...turn-based tactical combat...

Ok, now I'm interested. Won't buy it as a day-one-release, but definitely later when there's a good promo.
Is this like the 3rd most expensive release (on GOG) behind TW2 & Tales of Monkey Island collection???

Non-discounted price is $39.99, which means that only TW2 was more expensive on release (I think).

GOG.com: ...that will let you dominate 1930s Atlantic City as a mafia boss...
The game card says 1920s Atlantic City. Which is it then? 20s or 30s?
