A new "Fair Price Package" detailed.

As per today's update on getting back to our roots ([url=http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots]which you can read here) we are happy to offer a new fair price package for Age of Wonders 3. We've made sure that the price difference is by largely covered by the extra gift codes you'll receive, so here's our updated pre-order offer, which will go live in the next two weeks:

The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is now one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.

For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now one $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

If you already pre-ordered Age of Wonders 3 and received the bonus game gift from us, we'll send you the remaining gift codes to meet the new Fair Price Pacage offer detailed above. If your price difference happened to be $10.00 and you've already selected and redeemed a $5.99 game, please contact support so they can replace it with any of our $9.99 games for you.

Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range.

If any of this seems unintuitive to you, our customer support team will be happy to help you. We do hope that this kind of "Fair Price Package" makes much more sense to you and that everyone's experience with getting their game from GOG.com will be as pleasant as we always aim for it to be.

GOG.com would like to thank Triumph Studios, the fantastic development team behind Age of Wonders 3, for working with us to make this offer possible.
btw, if GoG does get a store credit system happening I'll be happy, currently I get charged a flat rate for currency conversion so any small transactions end up costing me double.
I just preordered the delux version for the full 60-somehting dollars. I got a giftcode for Dungeon Keerp Gold, a game I already own.

Does this mean that the code will be removed soon and replaced by three 5,99 codes?

OldFatGuy: I didn't read the whole thread so maybe it's been answered, but I live in the USA and for some reason I got a bonus code (for a choice of a game from six strategy titles).

I'm pretty sure I'm not owed a game due to regional pricing, old or new policies.

Should I email you back the code, or just delete the email and forget it?
That's actually part of the pre-order bonus. But you can always contact support to confirm.

Ebany: 2.) And I own all the games which were offered as a bonus so I get nothing there. For those unaware, you can't pick a game and get a code if you own it ...... all you can do is look.
Lemme quote the above post:

So you can get a game of your choice instead. We will have the new system in place before the end of the month for this, but in the meantime you should be able to contact support.

RadonGOG: This is kind of the most epic turnaround a company ever did...
It's not a "turnaround"; GOG has always tried to please its customers.

BadDecissions: Spending $40 on a game sight unseen, with no way of judging its quality, is still absolutely ridiculous though.
Spending any amount on a game before being able to judge its quality can be dangerous.

That's the problem with pre-orders.

Good grief, GOG is giving people great offers left and right, but they're still complaining!? Read the OP, dudes.
I can't even fathom why people complain when GOG offers this kind of service, attention and respect to it's costumers. They won't find it anywhere else. Good going GOG!

Ebany: I'm listening to Witcher 2 sound track while I do my Uni assignment, nothing like the tempered eerie music of a beautiful sound track to help me focus on Engineering Materials .... *sigh*
Hmm I knew some engineering students back when I went to Uni. The spent a good deal of time at the Uni bar. Come to think of it I did as well as I started to lose interest in some lectures.
Hmmm

It would be better if we could choose if we want three 5.99$ game codes or one 9.99$ and one 5.99$ at the deluxe edition. Ok maybe it's less money, but still maybe somebody want to get 9.99$ game, which is totally worth the difference.

It reminds me of when Coca Cola trashed their original formula for the new Coke, failed hard, then came back with Coca Cola Classic.

Except that this isn't a complete turnaround, really, seeing as regional pricing will still technically exist on GOG.
Thank you GOG.
If you plan on doing this for all releases which have unfair pricing, then I am glad.

Will cancel my Steam preorder and buy it from GOG instead!
I'm a little lost on the whole 'fair pricing' thing. I just don't have enough time right now to wrap my head around what it is and why its such a big deal. But, I have to hand it to GoG. They work so hard to reach across the aisle, so to speak. I've got 300+ games here and I will continue to do so because time and again, they've shown us that they put the customer's values first. I'm also very happy with how they've done such a great job getting all of my older games (even ones that I purchased years ago) to work with later versions of Windows, and doing it with no DRM. Because of their commitment to this principle, I buy games on here even if they are more expensive than Steam. Great job, guys!!

You are in the USA, so the fair pricing has no effect on your.

It was more having to do with:

Game is $30

Country A price - ~$40 USA equivalent in local currency
Country B price - ~$70 USA equivalent in local currency
Country C price - ~$25 USA equivalent in local currency

For the most part, it ended up being costing people a lot more than the base USA price. Some countries, like Russia, tend to price things at a lower cost to help push sales (due to less expendable income when compared to USD). Family might have a bit of expendable income for their country, but it might not be a lot in USD.

Generally regional prices were a lot more than the USD price.

Year ago when I was doing Bachelor of IT at NT Uni (Charles Darwin now I think), they had an awesome bar. Right next to the gym. In QLD now, they have an excellent gym but no bar. Then again, I quit drinking more than a decade ago so it's probably for the best :)
