de_Monteynard: Before I go around sending emails to GOG support, I was wondering if anyone else suddenly lost access to LoG after pre-ordering it. Yesterday, it was still tagged was "owned", but now it isn't and all I have in my game shelf in a transparent box, which says "something went wrong" when I click on it.

I certainly hope this is a temporary bug and not some gremlin deleting games from my shelf.
Same here!

Don't worry - it will be the website gnomes not pulling their weight - EnigmaticT needs to start whipping them into shape...
same here, already sent a ticket

Now this is what I call excellent service. Glad it wasn't something more serious.

Lexor: That's what I think. Windows is easy enough interface comparing to DOS :D
Yes , I think why not make things easy since we have to be confined to these squares (Windows) - but actually I have been opposing things like Windows for a long time because it "dumbs down" and the computer programming languages are RAD (drag and drop of squares) where I liked the old fashioned where one could address the screen (row, column) when making in and outputs and one didn't have to spend so much time trying to learn the most basic I/O operations and could use the time doing some really nifty programming..
Just the concept of wanting to do CONDITIONAL in- and out- puts at run time and not wanting the in- out- put to be pre determined and not at a predetermined place causes the mind of people some problems cause these days an interface have to consist of squares rather than one being able to freely addressing the screen....
So I think that while the GUI (Graphical User Interface) is a smart thing and you can get a loft of choices in software then I think that it basically turns everyone into "users" and that alas also programmers to far extend (unless one wants to devote ones entire life to studying the inner workings and enviroment of a PC)

But since it is what we got then why not use it with "the greatest of ease".........

And by the way...... One of the points with the "Wishlist suggestion" were as I have written that I think that the ease uf use is one of the reasons for Steams success and GOG have mainly been for enthusiasts and game nerds and not so much for everybody and I think that a "Steam like" interface for GOGs DRM free games could remedy that to some extend. However after such an act then they also needed an addition of completely other selection of games to satisfy the less game nerdy crowd.... (casual & family games that most people here - at present - wouldn't touch with a ten feet pole).....
But as I wrote (maybe in another "Wish") then GOG perhaps ought to make the GOG experience itself highly configurable so that GOG with resepect to site- and downloader- user experience were able to "satisfy" (and target) a much larger and wider population selection...
If GOG is ever going to get *REALLY* big and successfull then it needs to expand and branch into getting a much larger target audience and that will take some thinking and doing - IMHO.....

MonstaMunch: Looks like a great game, sadly I'll have to give it a miss as from the looks of it, it's yet another first person only game :(
avatar
tarangwydion: But this one is using tile-based, step-by-step movement, so theoretically you and I won't get motion/simulator sickness with this one.
Cheers for the tip, but I have yet to find any first person games that don't make me sick, and it's not due to lack of trying :(

You could try watching the demo videos fullscreen (or maybe test the compatibility demo) for a while to see if it trigger motion sickness.

I can't play Mario 64 games for too long, but never had any problem with Dungeon Master. That said, the small screen movements while walking could be a problem.

If Motion sickness is the problem do NOT watch someone else playing, good chance it'll just make you sick. For me, there's some games that do that to me, and it happens even quicker if I watch someone else play. Horrible feeling, can last all night :(

I just get dizzy and throw up, even with a lot of 3rd person games like Witcher 2 (though there are a lot of 3rd person games that I can play without any issues).

Maybe you've come to expect to feel sick and therefore you do? Doesn't change the symptoms, I know, but it does change the cause and possible remedies.

Have you tried travel motion sickness tablets?

I've tried everything, including making a thread on the forums to get ideas, all of which I tried. A lot of people suggested that it's psychological and that I should just "get over it" and stuff, but it really really isn't. I've spent hundreds of dollars on games that I knew would make me sick just to try and "get over it", not to mention the wrist bands, acupuncture etc, and twice continued playing even after throwing up and getting dizzy, which resulted in muscle spasms and almost a full on fit (I'm not epileptic or anything).

The second time was quite serious and scared the hell out of my girlfriend (I was trying to play Far Cry about a month after that thread). The muscles in my face were spazing out and I literally went blind for about a minute. Haven't touched a first person game since then.

That sounds pretty bad mate. :(

This might sound strange, but have you tried coloured glasses?

There's research that demonstrates the positive effects of coloured fliters for dyslexia sufferers, who can also claim certain motion impaction on their ability to read properly.
As it all has to do with the way the brain reads images, be they words, video or static pictures.

The primary colours have most effect along with greens... you can get cheap sunglasses in these colours.. If you've tried everything else and it's still a major problem for you.. well it's the only other thing I can suggest.
