COM64 with an Ethernet card super glued in. Instead of the floppy or tape, i cram Nintendo cartridges into a pile of rocks and sticks i tied together with some twine i found in my garage. my monitor is my Nintendo DS ((which is sweet cause half of it is touch)). my head set consists of ipod ear-buds and the bottom half of a cordless phone i duct tape to my face. my keyboard and mouse are actually just a 360 controller that has the keypad on it. i power it with hopes and dreams. and i use condoms for a surge protector.

Pretty much the same thing for me. I have an older pc that has a hard time running anything made past 2004. Other than that, my pc suits my needs perfectly well, so I haven't upgraded yet. I don't play older games because I think they are better, I just play em cuz I don't mind the dated graphics most of the time. it wasn't too long ago I was playing nintendo GBA games, if I can handle GBA graphics I can handle most gog games
.Since I don't play many modern pc games, I can't say whether or not I agree with you on the old games being better. If that is true, I find that really really disappointing cuz honeslty I think the games are good but not "omfg these games are blowing my socks off" good.

The drive does suck (doesn't work with FireWire Target Disk Mode in the PowerBook, for starters), but it's the only spare I had.
It was a spare specifically because I used to have an HP TC1100, and that was its drive 'til I upgraded it with a Samsung HM160HC. I don't have that system anymore, though-sold it to help me afford that Gateway notebook.
What'll likely happen is that it'll get a hand-me-down from the E-295C when I get around to upgrading its hard drive to something faster, more spacious, and not so damn hot, and...well, I don't know what I'm gonna do with that 40 GB 4,200 RPM drive. (Maybe it'll go down to my dual Celeron 533/768 MB (3*256 MB) setup, soon as I can get a case and PSU for it.)
