Hello there.
Rather than installing games on my laptop and desktop, I prefer putting my software onto a USB drive whenever possible and running it from there (no hassle in moving save games around when I travel, etc).
This is assuming my laptop and desktop are both capable of running the game, and that the games themselves use relative file paths etc (I suppose what I'm really thinking about the GOG setup executable that is mentioned).
Is there any particular reason why this wouldn't work in general for GOG games?
If no one knows (and GOG have no objections to this way of installing) then I guess I'll just buy one, give it a try and let you know :)
Thanks

Well. If the game requires DosBox then you can install D-Fend reloaded
http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/
It is a GUI front end for DosBox. When you install it make sure that you choose "PORTABLE" mode during the installation options
This is how I have it installed on my external hard drive along with 5.5gigs of Old school PC games.
Heh, I didn't know DFend was still in development, thanks for the info :D
DOS games, as mentioned should not be an issue.

I've been playing the GoG release of Fallout on a portable USB HDD. Works fine and no issues. Descent 3 however, was too jittery until it went on the main one.
Any games that need a registry entry, and you *may* run into trouble. In theory, if you install it into the same USB location per machine, to give each PC the reg keys it wants, it should work. (single install still)
I've yet to test this, but of course this can overwrite any mods you are using, so, keep it vanilla until you have it setup.
Thanks Slybo and Ois!
I do have DF Reloaded and I'm currently making arrangements for it to be buried next to me when I die, as I love it so much. But great to hear that Fallout will work and fingers crossed others will too.
