There's this game that's been on my mind for a while, but I don't remember what it was called.
So if you want to try to help me, I'll give some information.

I played it about 7 years ago, and it was a sky-view style similar to Baldur's Gate.
You could choose a race such as dark elf or something like that, or human. I know this because I chose to be a dark-blue skinned female for my first game.
There was a quest that had two different historical figures, and required me to pick the side of the other. I think I had the option to join one side, and trick the other. I'm going to throw out some guesses on who these historical people people were. Columbus/someone, Thomas Edison/Nikola Tesla.
Maybe dated around 1700.
I think the starting point was somewhere near a city by the sea, because I think I remember being near a dock or water and fighting monsters.
Might have been Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Can someone who has played this confirm?

That's probably a lot of useless general information, but any help would be appreciated!
I will add info if I can think of any.
Arcanum begins with you being on board of an airship that gets attacked and crashes in the middle of nowhere.

haha oh, what kind of middle of nowhere is it? Desert, rainforest, mountain, etc?

This is pretty much the first thing you see when you get control of the game.
Maybe Lionheart?

like Coelocanth write it is probably Lionheart

You can start there as demonkind (hence dark elf visuals) and you interact with many historical figures.

Shame about the dark elf thing, I was thinking it'd be Worlds Of Ultima: Martian Dreams
Yes! It has to be it! I recognize the lion and the art style. Thanks!

Thanks for the help! :D
I'm so excited I found it, but I've been deciding whether or not to put it on my wishlist, even before I realized it's probably what I've been looking for.

That game actually looks cool too. Is it easy to get? Meaning someone's still publishing it?

It's from 1991 and a quick search on ebay showed 6 sellers with the lowest price being $80.99 - no. ;)

Both of the Worlds of Ultima Games are rare finds - Glad I have my origonals.

wow... why doesn't a publisher get it?

Though I'd hate to be the guy to spent 80+ for a game only to have it be rereleased for $10, so I won't be that guy.

You lucky dog. I have originals of Wasteland and a few Bards Tales, that work, I have non-functional Autoduel, The Legend of Blacksilver, and Zork III. Probably I have a lot more non-functional stuff, I'm scared to look.

Have too much to mention here, besides I don't want to start a bragging contest. Working condition is one thing, but where to get that working 5 1/4" disc drive to install them? ;)

You're lucky, I'd need a working 1541 disk drive to even try some of mine (and a C64 for machine that could emulate one).
I watched some gameplay videos of Lionheart and can confirm that this is the game I was looking for.
Thank you everyone for your help!
