Now this is about the only thing thats ever tempted me to look twice at PvZ, the game looks like utter shit but a pisstake like this deserves a reward

Plants vs. Zombies is an awesome game well worth the $10. It isn't particularly difficult or challenging but the humor and fun make up for that. I've easily gotten sixty+ hours of game play from it.

as they've already said, Plants VS Zombies is awesome, it's not just tower defense. It's crazy.
Also, I would like to say that Evony straight up rips sprites from Age of Empires.

Pole Vaulting Zombies. Zombie Dolphin Riders. Giant Wall-Nuts. Zombies with Screen Doors as shields. What's not to love?!

Popcap still gets some undeserved hatred from people for being "too casual" and for their early games which mostly stole concepts from other developers (which, admittedly, is a pretty legitimate reason to dislike their early stuff), but these days they're a bunch of genuinely talented people. Just because their games are simple doesn't mean that there's not a hell of a lot of work put into them to make sure everything works just right and is balanced just so. Frequently the simplest concepts can be the hardest to pull off, and seeing Popcap manage to do so with such consistent frequency is a real testament to their skill.

Peggle is goddamned amazing, and has real challenge for a game that's been reduced to the "casual" label.

Not just challenge, but a whole lot of replay value, too. A friend of mine kept trying to tell me how good it was and I just wasn't really sold on it until I got a version of it for my iPod and just couldn't stop playing. It's incredibly addictive.
