Written by a fan rather than a developer but a good nostalgic read that really makes me want to buy the game from some website that specialises in good old games. Oh if only there was one that had this fine game...

I just saw that article and it immediately got me searching and I found this site. I'd really love to get a copy of PS:T as well.

I'd love for Gog to add all of the D&D RPG's to their catalogue - Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale 1 & 1. While I have original copies of both BG 1 & 2, having a one click install version from GOG would be much easier than having to swap between 6-8 disks for one game and another 6 or so disks for the other (since I play 1 through TUTU). Much more convenient. Maybe for a nice valentines day present from GOG? *hint hint*

C'mon GOG team, don't make me go to Ebay.

As I said in some other thread I'm too lazy to look for, I suspect the problem with stuff like the AD&D games is that there's double the number of licence fees. Most likely they'd not only have to pay infogrammes/atari (I think thats who owns the rights for them nowdays) for the rights to distribute the game but also pay wizards of the coast for any vague mention of D&D
Thats only a guess and may be completely wrong but whenever there's money involved, there's always someone with their hand out.

I enjoyed the read though I never finished the game (I don't finish games in general).
I also read about 8 of the comments before I realised that the internets is full of opinionated morons. Opinions are good. Being a opinionated about your opinion is fine, I mean it's your opinion.
Being a dork by saying "my opinion is better than your opinion because your opinion is shit" or the rather verbose equivalent that gets spouted by the unwashed masses gets a little irritating.

I felt the same Karl, I read a few until I saw the comments saying its not a good RPG because the combat is shit, or whatever... then I stopped reading.
The comments threads on most blogs/articles are like that, generally between people trolling and other obnoxious types accusing each other of being "haters" or "fanboys", without any real reasoning or arguement.

Yeah only hater fanboys do that!

i still have the CDs for BG1 2 and planescape... wheeeee

I must give it another go. I bought it cheap on ebay and never made it very far. i got out of the mortuary and into town and that was about it.
it sure doesn't start off well, as the opening mortuary crawl is really repetitive and dull... and the city didn't seem much better. Can't say i found the characters or the writing that interesting either.
But as i say i only played an hour or so and then got bored, so i'm guessing it must get a lt better later... must try to find those cds...

yea, the beginning is a bit slow from what I remember, it does get much better later on when you have leveled up a bit. Keep in mind at the same time this is an older game, so it might not have the same tempo as contemporary games.

Planescape:Torment was not made to be rushed through but savored like a very rare wine that comes along every century or so. You want a fast-paced game then play an FPS or RTS. In my personal opinion, RPG's are made for people who like to explore and not be rushed by the frenetic gameplay of other genres.
