I know it's "new" because it's sealed but that doesn't really count. I could buy a "new" copy of Alice on ebay but the only person who gets money from it is a reseller. You're paying for the box when you buy abandonware, even if it's "new." For the developers and publisher involved it's no different from "pirating" it.

Now that the Xbox One has been announced to support indie self publishing it became more interesting to me. Not that I'm going to buy one any time soon, but I'll be following it and especially looking at what people are doing with the Kinect.

There is no game good enough that I would buy a console to play it. My PC backlog is large enough that I have plenty to play already. There are a number of games that "everybody must play this game!" that I have never played, and yet my life has continued to be meaningful and fulfilling, so I'll survive missing any console exclusives.

Who needs a console when you have emulators! You can play ANY system you want (except the newest ones ex. PS3, Xbox 360, but soon they'll have their emulators too) you can even get almost ANY controller and play with it as well! Emulators & PCs for life!!! I even used to have emulators on my Android!!! hahahah!

Console? No way. In the past I might have considered a handheld, but with my Nexus 7 my mobile gaming needs are covered. For "real"gaming (whatever that is), the PC rules. At least for me.

I've been tempted by the the PS1 and 2 because of games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. But, it turns out I'm fine with emulators. I really don't need the clutter of the machine and the cartridges or the discs. Plus, I don't own a TV and I'd like to keep it that way.

I haven't owned a console since the Atari 2600, but when the PS4 was announced, I wondered to myself if this would be a good time to buy a PS3 and play through all the PlayStation exclusives that have come out in the past 10 years. I made a list of about 35 highly-rated games that I wished would come to the PC, but never did. And that almost convinced me to get the PS3.

But then I started to consider that I end up disappointed with at least half the PC games I buy, and that there were really only a handful of games on the list that truly fill my soul with longing. So I think I'm going to pass on those games and spend the money I've saved on that much better of a new PC gaming desktop instead.

The last console I owned was the PS2. There were some console exclusive games that I wanted to play, but I can't justify buying a console for just a few games. Also, PC games are considerably cheaper than console games.

I once thought about buying an XBox 360 to be able to play Halo 3 (finished 2 in X-Box and liked the story). But in the end, I didn't. Since the SNES release I've been hearing of "death of PC gaming". It is just like the spam e-mail that hotmail is going to close your account if you don't resend that e-mail.

Anyway, after the ATARI 2600, I owned an ATARI 5200, a Colecovision, an ATARI 130XE, an X-Box, a PSP 1000 (hacked), and a PS3.

I only bought the PS3 because my workmates play BF3 in it but I wasn't really going to buy it, since I bought it last year.

The X-box was a deal with a workmate who sold it for $100 and it was modded and had a 150GB Hard Drive with a lot of games.

So in the end, I still use my PC as my main entertainment system.

No. I am against consoles for several reasons:

1) Not economically viable for the planet (we want to consolidate hardware, not have a separate device for everything)

2) Heavily DRMed

3) More expansive (once you include purchasing the games)

Furthermore, my backlog is huge (throughput for PC games more than satisfy my needs) and I'm a bit of an anti-fanboy as far as games are concerned.

I don't go out looking for games to feel enthusiastic about. Rather, I look at the games that fulfill my basic criteria (platform and price) and then decide which of those I'll feel enthusiastic about... right before acquiring them... I don't spend months pining on particular titles.

I get the attraction of consoles for many though. The PC experience is still pretty daunting for the high school dropout and generally people who don't get technology (I'm sure they have other skills that makeup for it).

It's gotten better nowadays with digital distribution, but it's not 100% there yet. You still hear of the occasional issue that people get.

second, I'm not that kind of hardcore gamer to purchase one-purpose device only usable for gaming, laptop is pretty much universal home device that's also easy to carry wherever u go

third, the games I'm interested most like old games, total war series or paradox grand strategy games are not for consoles, so why even bother
