I use VISA electron since I've joined gog. Purchased a lot and had no issues. I would rather say it is problem with your bank and not with that kind of card.

All debit cards are called Visa for a few years now. And they work. Make sure you set your limits correctly or if it's not your bank blocking the transaction for some reason.

Or am I mixing something? I don't have a credit card, only debit card, and even this one has only VISA printed on it. I can't take any loans with this card.
There's Visa Debit and Visa Electron in the UK. I used to be stuck with an Electron but I could buy things here through paypal (never tried directly since I know my bank charges a conversion fee).

Why would you want an electron over a Visa Debit? Electrons were limited in a number of ways. Is there anything you could do with an Electron that you can't with a Visa Debit?

A number of companies used the electron system to lower the advertised price. Airlines did it all the time

Airlines would take out the payment charge from the advertised. Visa Electron would be an option to get around advertisement laws.

Card processing fees for Electron are (used to be?) lower. So if you paid by Electron, the seller rewarded you with a discount.

Edit, Wikipedia:
Visa Electron: As the card carries a low interchange fee, airlines and other businesses which surcharge credit and debit card payments do not usually surcharge Visa Electron payments. Ryanair and Easyjet became notorious for this, charging disproportionately high fees for other debit cards.

Interchange fees: These fees are set by the credit card networks, and are the largest component of the various fees that most merchants pay for the privilege of accepting credit cards, representing 70% to 90% of these fees by some estimates...

My bank does this to me repeatedly. Every month or so they will block my entire account due to fraud prevention and it is always GOG that triggers it.

You would have thought they would have got the point after a few months.. but no.
