No, really you aren't, you just want to be argumentative. That's fine, but it's not "trying to understand", because the issue I'm mentioning is hardly new, if you're even half as much "into politics" and you're trying to make yourself out to be then the concept of disenfranchisement and the issues with the two party system, whether you agree with them or not, are most certainly familiar to you.
A system that doesn't let you pick the candidates, that has primaries that likewise don't let you pick the candidates, is the same as one that doesn't bother with the primaries at all. Odin only knows why you think the system is "working", I think it's working as intended, it's simply not working "for you".
