Just realized Totalbiscuit did an interview with Chris Wilson, lead designer of Path of Exile. In it, the both of them run through high level dungeons using a level 60+ Witch and Marauder. It's a good interview/LP and gives a good idea of what you can expect from end game content.

Anyone playing a necro build? Latest patch notes suggest that minions have some changes made to them, but I'm not seeing these changes.

I never use Necro gems except at low levels to keep the heat off my melee guys.

If zombies suddenly didn't suck that'd be a nice surprise I guess.

Btw download the client now. This weekend there will be another server stress test. Beta will be open for the whole weekend.

I saw. I really don't like beta weekends though. I'd rather just get a key and be able to play when I want so in the event that I like the game, I'm not stuck unable to play for x amount of weeks longer.

If you like the game enough after playing for the weekend you can just kick $10 their way and they'll give you a beta key (along with however much of their game-currency $10 normally buys you). They also mentioned they're going to increase the number of beta keys they randomly hand out as they approach the fully open beta.

Oh cool. Didn't know they had that option now. Think I'll try it out then.

If it were $40 like Planetside 2 or $30 like Mechwarrior Online, I might spit at them though. That's insane for a beta. :/

Normally I'd consider any amount of money insane for a beta, but since their business model is F2P I view it as a bit different in this case. They're basically combining a degree of crowdsourcing (to help their development along), with allowing people to buy their in-game currency early, then throwing in beta access for anyone who buys some of that currency early.

You're still getting the normal stuff you'd get for 10 USD, you just get a free beta key thrown in with it:)

Path of Exile is a great game. I endorse it fully. It didn't have much to the story when I last played it, but I heard they added at minimum a whole new act to it since then, and it's still growing.

The devs are good guys. They deserve for this project to be a success.

^What DarrkPhoenix said. The fact that you get things like the DRM-free soundtrack as freebies in addition to their shop currency makes it all the sweeter. In fact, my friend wants to give me a belated birthday present (I got him $70 worth of stuff for his birthday), so I'm going to use this opportunity to upgrade my account to the Silver account. I get $100 worth of in-game currency, plus the map, plus the soundtrack and game on a DVD, and a silver kiwi. Sounds like an excellent deal to me.

Besides, it's an awesome game. I love every bit of it.

So, are we playing this weekend? I'm close to finishing Merciless.
