hedwards: I'd normally go with those definitions, but all the examples were labelled as sequels by their respective developers. And I think that it's a mess to try and figure out what they really are.
Surely not WoW? Otherwise it should have been called Warcraft 4, which would just be silly.

Heh, yeah, I should have excluded that. I'm still not quite sure how that qualifies as a Warcraft game.

On paper Painkiller should be quite easy to reboot, but I'll have to wait and see. I'm guessing it's deceptively easy.

hedwards: I personally have morth faith in projects where the original creators are at least involved with the project as there's at least some hope of them getting it right. But admittedly as iD managed to demonstrate with their reboots on Doom and Wolf 3D, sometimes a game is just too big to remake if you've left it alone for a period of time.
There are some exceptions though. IMO I think Bioware really managed to nail the Shiny spirit of the original MDK with MDK 2, and Presto did at least a decent job with Myst III (though I agree that with Myst IV Ubisoft Montreal didn't do as good a job).

Yes, it turns out that if you want to do a proper Painkiller game, you just need to do a carbon copy of the original :D
I just realised Hell and Damnation = HD... I feel silly now.
Was that Duke Nukem in the train station level?
Steamworks ? F.... you Nordic Games .

Since i realised it is just a greatest hits pack of painkiller black with better graphics, my enthousiasm about the game has been reduced to almost zero ...

Wonderful.

Hopefully we'll see a DRM-free version released later. For now I'll remain satisfied with the original.
These people made both Necrovision games? So this can't be good...

Apparently Steam hasn't got the Memo yet, as it is still open for pre-order...

...and probably will remain so until the game is indexed. That, or the poor unsuspecting pre-ordering sods will end up being lumbered with the USK-rated version.

Necrovision, the first one at least, is not that bad... especially when compared to the Painkiller "sequels"
This made me laugh :
Key Anti-Features (you know… the ones that make life EASY):

NO Kill-streak bonuses or airstrikes
NO auto-heal
NO AK-47, NO M16 or that sort of sh*t; just a healthy dose of .666 calibre weapons!
