stg83: They said in the comments, "Dont worry guys it will be DRM free".

fronzelneekburm: Sooo... they'll release it DRM-free and on Steam? :p
I see your pun, and raise you a likelihood.
Would love to see this come to market, but I don't think they have a chance at getting even close to $600,000.
Still, will back it in hope :)

As of right now, they are trending towards $800,000. 5% in a few hours ain't all that shabby.

They have lots of days to make up the difference, and hopefully then some. I've only backed one KS to date, but I think this is another good candidate.

edit: but yeah, I wish they had chosen a lower amount to start.

What was the other one?

I wouldn't. That they chose such a high number shows they might have a better perspective than most KS teams.

So it seemed when I started watching them a few hours ago. They've doubled their take since then. If it looks like they'll make it then I'll probably violate my "no fund starters" rule for the second time in my life and add money.
Here's hoping it comes to GOG, and maybe GOG can give away copies of the original to support it or something (like Tex Murphy)
For as much as I would love for this to be made, and I completely understand that the $600,000 is the bare minimum for the job, I'm convinced that it will fail.

Unfortunately, only a miracle will this get this project funded.
Come on people, let's fund this! I already did my part.

Yeah, you could be right, but choosing a high amount is always a gamble, I think. But really, best of luck to them.

And the other VG one was Torment.
Hopefully this means Outcast 2 is coming out soon?
Franck Sauer is on board, eh? Guess there's actually hope for this one.

Smannesman: Interesting, wasn't there also a fan-made remake/sequel/port in the works?
this? http://www.openoutcast.org/wp/

some of looks splendid but it might be a looong way off

ShadowWulfe: Hopefully this means Outcast 2 is coming out soon?
Quote from the kickstarter:
Is this Outcast 2?
No, this is Outcast 1, with graphic assets rebuilt from scratch in high definition and running on modern platforms using modern technologies. However, if the Kizaar stretch goal is obtained, one can say this is a first glimpse at Outcast 2 starting there.
This is just speculation and wishful thinking on my part, but since they quoted a GOG user in their project presentation video, I'm inclined to think those guys have a somewhat good impression and relationship of and with GOG, and I think that if the game gets funded and it depends on them, then, yes, it will most likely end up in here. I can't find any reference to Steam whatsoever in their KS page (Ctrl+F'd it, 0 results), so I don't get why so many GOGgers are so sure it will end up there (it's very likely to, obviously, since Steam is pretty much the tacit "standard" of digital video game distribution, but these guys seem to like GOG a lot).

As for the project itself, I would gladly back it, if I could, but I'm in a rough spot, economically, right now, and I'll have to postpone it. I truly hope it succeeds, though I'm trying to be... 'realistically cautious' about it. It's an amazing game, but it's not that well-known, and some of the original's charm was the fact it was made using voxel technology, I'm not sure how it'll perform if it loses that aspect, as it may sound gimmicky, but it was actually something that held great value for some fans of the game.
