Hello there!
I went through the games wishlist and saw "OutCast" being in the top 10 of the most wanted games. However there's a big potential issue with this game, I'd like you to be careful about something :
- the game only supports a maximum screen resolution below 640x480 which has an awful rendering on LCD flat screens no matter how much you use Anti Aliasning. So I looked for possible ways to solve this huge problem and couldn't find anything to fix it.
I might download illegaly the game again just to post some screenshots just to tell you how it looks on a 19 inch screen with a standard res. of 1280x1024 pixels.
PS : Indeed, if you manage to find a workaround I'll be more than happy to buy it from you. I'm also looking forward to the release of some Monkey Island games.

I don't think it's manageable to properly run this one on nowadays computers... maybe in windowed mode.
That's the "eternal" shame of the LCD technology. For my new PC I think I'll buy an LCD and a CRT monitor too, because I'm addicted to emulators and old videogames and these sucks on LCD :-P
it runs and looks ok in windowed mode on my LCD.
Be awesome if GOG ever got its hands on it if they could hack it to boost the max resolution though.

Lots of old games have a max res of 640x480. Fallout, StarCraft, Diablo, etc. I don't like it either, but I've learned to live with the fact.

We're talking about Voxel rendering here :P It's not the same thing as sprite rendering like those games! It looks awful nowadays ;<
The game is so incredilbe and unique that I do think that many people that do want it would not mind the resolution.
In fact, I still own my copy of Outcast, and played it recently. Yes, resolution is pretty low, and even on "framed" mode (like windowed) one can see jagged lines everywhere. Still, water effect looks nice enough (was outstanding for 1999).
But, man, what a game! So full of life and things to do... Great gameplay, have not aged a bit... Wonderfull soundtrack...
Very few games since it have touched me like this one. Which is a shame, since we have a lot more graphics power today... :(
I don't know if that does anything:

-Jason told me how to change the resolution in Outcast. Here are the lines you have to change in *every* "PC Spec".ini Remember to back these up files up before performing any type of tweaking!
[performance]
resolution=1280x960
cinemascope=true
crowdlevel=true
ambientsounds=true
bumpmapping=true
highanimationdetail=true
antialiasing=high
chardetail=high
objectdetail=high
prq=high
dof=high
doc=high
AND the Loader.ini...
[firsttimesection]
firsttime=false
level=0
sublevel=18
[performance]
antialiasing=High
voxeldetail=true
bumpmapping=true
highanimationdetail=true
resolution=1280x960
chardetail=High
doc=High
prq=High
dof=High
crowdlevel=true
ambientsounds=true
highobjectdetail=High
cinemascope=false
Now we're not sure if this actually changes the resolution because in the screenshot he sent me it looks like the game just stretched the image to fit the new screen size. Also if the game just switches the resolution back down, you'll have to re-edit the Loader.ini each time the game is launched.
