Have you installed the newer Outcast 1.1 yet? Is there a resolution selector or a way to run it in a window?

You can edit config.ini from /Outcast/userdata/ directory.

So there is a command in that file to enable windowed mode? Or is it just a way to edit a fullscreen resolution?

Fullscreen, video resolution and screen resolution. You could've just checked it yourself, you know. :P

Actually I haven't installed it yet since I wanted to make sure it had windowed capabilities! :P But thanks for the info!

Ah, that explains it. ;)
Has anyone tried the new version, yet?

On my rig (mounting an i7-4770 processor) it is *very* unstable: using 1920x1080 resolution, it continuously jumps between 20 and 40 fps, while on 720p it goes form 45 to 60.
Notice that I have never played the game before and I just walked around the village, for now.

While running in a window, is there a way to get the window to capture the mouse cursor? I'm noticing the cursor keeps exiting the game window, and then interacts with the desktop instead. This makes it very difficult to play the game. Is there a way to fix this?

I do not know, I'm afraid. I hardly ever played games windowed on Windows.
