OK I just bought Battle Isle Platinum as a gift for TinyE who asked a question about it in this weekend promo thread but he did not want it, he was honest and told me he is not into TBS and might not play it.

My second favourite TBS game is... Civilization IV. I love the Total War series and Rome is my favourite for years now, nothing came even close for me... ah, good 'ol times.
I am not in though, since I just realized I have plenty of other new games to play at the moment and some of them were even gifted to me.
