First off, The Elder Scrolls I: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall are absolutely 100% free and legal to own because Bethesda has let them fall into public domain. Bethesda offers the DOS versions on their website for free. I posted the links to the modern working versions on the wishlist, but I shall post them here again. My concern with this is that nobody did their research and ended up having these move past some fantastic titles.

On the other hand, Morrowind...is easily and cheaply accessible. Why gog? I have the disc version I bought not too long ago and it works fine. Steam has Morrowind...I'm confused why gog would offer anything better? The soundtrack, wallpapers, manual, and DRM free is not a reason to request gog to waste time and effort getting Bethesda's okay on this. Technically, it shouldn't happen because the DRM and Bethesda being an evil company nowadays selling broken products and screwing your pocket over.

So to recap, Arena and Daggerfall are free, and Morrowind is super easy to get.

If Bethesda were willing to sell their games here I am sure GOG would do so. They are the ones to contact, one assumes.

Available for free != public domain. Bethesda is part of ZeniMax Media. There are no ZeniMax games on GOG yet but there may be one day, maybe even on October 18th, who knows? One particularly interesting thing about ZeniMax is that they are quite good about making their older games available on Steam -- for example, pretty much the entire id catalog is there.
Edit: Technically, Arx Fatalis is made by Arkane Studios that is part of ZeniMax but it was probably published before the studio got acquired.

I loved Morrowind, never played Arena or Daggerfall.

I will say though that I appreciate when co's release older games as free. Technology being what it is, software doesn't age well, not like books or movies. I remember enjoying Dink Smallwood because they released the game to all. If it's at the point where only a handful are willing to buy it because it's so old, release it, so others may enjoy your hard work.

I am all for a DRM free copy of Morrowind, although I have an old burned copy around somewhere, and since I own a license I purchased on Steam, I already have a legit DRM copy.

Morrowind is one of the most important games of the last 3 generations, so it definitely belongs here.

This may come as a surprise, but Arena and Daggerfall are not public domain, they are just available for free. Bethesda released the games for free to celebrate the Elderscroll's 15th anniversary, but in no way they did release them as public domain, so you'd still need to have their approaval in order to provide them for people.

I never understood why people bring up this argument of "It's free so there's no need for it to be here"

Hell, even if you can get daggerfall for free, i'd gladly pay 6 bucks for it if it came with cool extras here on GOG. the Arrival of Zenimax here on GOG is long overdue and I'm sure that the GOG team are aware of this very well I suppose that title would go to daggerfall since it essentially DID do almost all of the things morrowind did but first

Bethesda/Zenimax likely signed a long term contract with Steam. You won't be seeing their games here anytime soon.

Steam contracts are not exclusive. Even Steamworks titles have appeared on GOG. (Alan Wake)

It is more likely their exclusive deal with 1C that is big issue (at least for modern games).

Ummm... What? It's not here. What's the point of this topic? I'm not saying it's pointless, I'm just trying to figure out what exactly was OP trying to say. That it shouldn't be here? But it's not! Is this some sort of reverse beg thread?

Yep. Steams official stance on exclusivity is this:

"We think you should get your game in front of as many people as you can, therefore we do not require exclusivity on titles."

(taken from their developer FAQ.)

It _does_ them like they are _interested_ in striking exclusivity deals with key publishers. Bethesda has (for example) totally stopped to sell the GFWL-based version of Fallout 3 anywhere. It's hard to imagine that Bethesda/Zenimax would deliberately cut off other sales channels if Steam didn't offer them something to sweeten the deal, but we'll never know, and of course both partners are tight-lipped when asked about the exact extent of their partnership.

1C has an exclusive deal with Steam?

I'm talking about a separate contract, one where the two companies have form a pseudo-partnership. Skyrim was the first non Valve game to use the Steamworks Workshop, look for more new Steam features to premier with new Valve or Bethesda games.

I had a very friendly conversation with Bethesda and every time I mentioned my dislike of Steam they gave me a canned response straight out of the Valve handbook word for word. I felt like the staff had been trained up on what to say when asked about Steam, and more than just some line about it being a Management Decision like some other companies I have spoken to.

I get the distinct impression that all Bethesda games will be Steamworks exclusive for the foreseeable future. But I would love to be proven wrong, I want to play New Vegas and Skyrim.
