Raspberry PI (aka RPi)
i can't wait to experiment with one. Seems endless, the things which could be done. And i might finally be able to upcycle an old LCD screen from a long dead laptop i been holding onto. Make my own tablet PC .. complete with mouse and keypad support, and having none of the bullsquat software limitations, and hardware tweaking restrictions, that greedy bastards like MS and Apple impose. You buy it and it's yours to do with as you flipping please! Absolute awesome sauce the RPi is !!
*in order to give the old screen some touch-screen functionality, i've seen DIY plans for projectable pointing devices and keyboards+. Which i am certain can be tweaked to allow what i'd need. A beauty of the RPi is that we are Free to tweak as we will. :)
"Resembling little more than a credit card-sized scrap of exposed circuit board, the RPi is a fully programmable PC that runs a free, open-source Linux operating system, plugs into any TV, can power 3D graphics, connects to the Internet and, with a little ingenuity, be used to create your own personalized robot slave.
The computer's miniature frame is crowded with two USB ports, an SD card slot, an Ethernet connection and microchip in the middle -- all powered by a universal USB mobile charger.
Not only is it the world's smallest personal computer but, perhaps most importantly of all, at just $25 the RPi is also the world's cheapest."
