Not so much "Obsidian ponders" as "Feargus gets asked about it and he gives an answer that amounts to saying that anything is possible."

Nothing to get excited about.
We haven’t talked about it in ten years

He's saying that they're not really interested in doing one, but if they hypothetically did one, they'd be careful about it.
Planescape: Torment 2 is like Baldur's Gate 3 imho; unnecessary and unwanted additions to great RPGs that already had a good end to their story.

What story would you tell in in an hypothetic PS: T 2 anyway?
The Nameless One is done with his torment and having a new PC would feel wrong.

Bummer. Here I hope they'd do a schlocky job just to watch the ensuing nerdstorm going down on them :P

What about a reedition? A remake? This might give me evil looks from the purists but it could be seriously considered. The game is a masterpiece that stands on its own afterall, doing a sequel could be seen as suicidal to put it mildly.
I wouldn't mind having another game using the Planescape setting but not the same characters or story from the first game.
would be a VERY welcomed game

Please god no, I can't imagine it'd be anything but a disappointment compared to the first one.
As sad this may sound there will be no PS:T sequel or even remake.

PS:T was based on D&D planes. So Hasbro has only license for PST. That is 10% of problem.

Rest is that Hasbro finished Planescape world same as D&D2 system and original.
So that means that any new game remake etc can't be based on hinished products.

Same story with BG2. There won't be direct remake because D&D2 is no more and only 4 would be licensed to devs. (i like 2 way more than 3,5 or 4)

it's a shame because PST main ending can generate direct sequel.

GameRager: Back...away...from the nostalgia goggles plz.
No offense, but recent rounds of sequels/revamps of older game franchises haven't been very good for the most part. The upcoming X-com isn't even the same genre anymore. I personally didn't think Fallout 3 was that great, although others disagree. I'm just not sure anyone is going to do such a dialogue heavy RPG style game anymore. It'd come out much different.

I wouldn't mind another planescape set game though as an RPG, I just don't think it would work out tying it directly to the older game.

agree,

as of fallout 3 same thing here it isn't fallout for me.

BUT You should try F: New Vegas it is a real Fallout 3 as it should be created by almost same people as F1/2 ant it shows ! :)

GameRager: Nope....a GOOD title in an established series could be both wanted and fun. Also a new PC could also be cool, and such games could be prequals and not just sequals.
Just because it's an established series doesn't mean it can be revived.
The market has changed too much since then, and at best further games would end up like Fallout 3: good games in their own right but nothing much like the originals. At worst it would be just tacking on the name onto something awful, like the new "Ultima" title planned by EA.

Neither a sequel nor a prequel would make sense in the case of PS:T btw. Setting TNO as a prior Incarnation would make it a Failure is the only option thing; not really fun. Even before would ruin the mystery about what his great sin was. And anything set after Torment's ending would probably be a letdown storywise.

Same here. There's lots of possibilities in the Planescape setting.

If they remade Torment, I'm afraid it would be a disaster. Just leave it alone.
Would WotC even allow it?
Planescape is discontinued setting, isn't it?
