Oh yes, i have the same issue. I keep buying games all the time (especially in those indie bundles), even though i know i won't play them anytime soon due to my MASSIVE backlog. I just can't resist a good sale. I'm broke right now, so i had to decrease my purchases, but i still buy many games.
I have that problem, but with finding good deals on physical games thanks to Amazon.com, eBay, and checking out the local Goodwill for older PC games and the like.
I'm undecided if this is a problem, as long as I can still afford it. Besides, I kind of owe the industry due to playing pirated copies of games during my schoolyears. There was hardly any other chance for me to play video games back then and everyone I knew was doing it, too. I probably wouldn't be a gamer without piracy, but now that I'm a grown-up and can buy games with my own money, I think it's only fair that I pay my "video game taxes" via bundles, sales and attractive offers. ;)

It would turn into a massive issue though if I also had an obsessive compulsion to actually play and finish all the games I buy ... IMO wasted life time weighs more heavily than wasted money (unless you're starving or getting evicted, of course).

After taking stock of the massive pile of unplayed games I have in my backlog, I recently decided I really don't need to buy any more for a while until I get that backlog whittled down a bit. This despite the fact I have between two and three dozen games on various wishlists.

Stellar deal? Well, they'll appear again down the road, and quite possibly at a better deal. I've pretty much caught up on my 'must have it now' list, so there's really nothing compelling for me to buy now, no matter what the discount.
I'm not proud of it but i have some history with piracy.. It started with SNES floppy disks, then PSOne burned CD's, then Dreamcast CD's and Ps2 DVd's.. Then Ds Flashcart roms, to PSP and Wii Iso's.. To PC's MAME and various emulator roms..

I think i purchased about 500 games to redeem myself somehow, i am now clear of it and got rid of EVERYTHING i had illegally aquired. I moved from active pirate gamer to pirate syndrome collector around the Ds flashcart era, keeping but barely playing and enjoying any game..

Now i have like 3 movies and one unlicenced Tv J-drama on my computer, and occasionaly Desperate Housewives, Dexter, Walking Dead episode i admit to pirate from torrent website.. Low income no excuses, but that's my brother pressure to dl' and watch them too. If it was just me i THINK i would just wait for TV broadcast.

I'm not proud and i don't brag, but at last i am far from the person i used to be and now more of a honest citizen, even if it costed me loads, i'm out of piracy almost whole.

Aaand i write this on a guilt move and it's almost totally off topic and a mess, haha anyway that was just to say my compulsive need to buy stuff was related to this piracy history of mine, it is now a lot sorted out as I barely buy anymore since i got most i wanted to get, and try to clear my 350 games backlog from my 500'ish library.. Peace, stay clear from piracy! And deals, watch ur wallet!! ^^

My spending habits changed somewhat when I got more control in my life. I would splurge often when I had a 9-5 job (actually 7-3:30). All those moments of wanting to blow my damn brains out when we would walk around the warehouse so we could pretend to be busy or driving around on dirt roads "patrolling" power lines were offset by a ton of retail therapy.

Now I have autonomy, complexity, and a connection to the reward that my work produces. Now I'd rather read a parts catalog so I can reinvest money than look for the latest toy to blow money on or watch porn.

Edit: Not that I don't buy games anymore, but I only buy games that I really want. If a game comes out that I want, I buy it. Now most of my purchases are day one. I think I save money anyway because I no longer care about getting a bunch of games that I'll probably never play at a low price because they add up pretty quick.
