Well that is your opinion, mine is different.
I like a lot Oblivion and not that much Morrowind. Don't like too much stretched fantasy worlds with weird stuff every step.
Still, Morrowind is in the top 10 all time favourite games for me. Both games are great for roleplaying, but not roleplaying like in NWN or BG games but more like MMOs.
One can just skip the main story and do anything. Thats why Bethesda's games are the best for me, they can't get old if I still have imagination. While games like BG, Dragon age or Witcher are very good too, but there is no freedom, no sand box. :)

Be careful which version you get, the Oblivion Script Extender needed by some mods only currently works on the disc or Steam versions. See here

Honestly if i were you I'd go with the Morrowind GOTY way better elderscrolls game IMHO.

Funny thing is, cracking a disc check protection is believed to be 'illegal' by some people. But the same people use FOMM to remove the GfWL requirements.
Go figure.
