At the age of 29, i feel that no games tempt me anymore. When i was 5 i got my first gaming experience with the fabulous Atari's Home Pong console :) After that, i got the C64 wich really got me hooked on games. I played the c64 so much that i had to put the power adapter in freezer because of overheating hehe, oh i miss those days.
The first computer i got was a 386 with 33mhz and 4mb RAM, oh glory what a beast!! Playing games like ports of call, street rod, quest for glory, larry, space quest etc. etc. I could keep on for ever, there was so many good games back in those days. I could play the same game every day for months, and still enjoy it like it was the first time i played it. Games had much more charm back then, or so it feels now.
Games weren't so easy to get a hold of, so when i first got a new one i was in heaven. It didn't matter what genre it was, or if the graphics was good or bad. I could start up a game, and i was in another world, playing the game to the max, and enjoying every minute of it. Nothing could be missed, read every book, talk to everybody and look at every detail of the game.
The things that bothers me these days is that the games are to easy to get a hold of, and there are A LOT of them. I buy a bunch of games every month, both from GoG, Steam and retail games, i also have an XBox 360 wich i love to buy games for. I got 50 games on the 360 excluding all the arcade and games i bought on demand, and i have completed only 2 of them...
When i buy a game, for PC or the 360, i start it, play it for like 20-30 minutes, then i quit. I feel i get fed up to fast. I think the problem is that there is nothing "new" coming out, it's like i've seen it all before.
Now a days i feel it's all about graphics, gameplay isn't that important anymore. I guess that's why i'm a GoG addict :) They knew how to make good games in the good old days (80's to mid/late 90's).
I feel that i'm searching for the holy grail atm. I keep buying games, checking them out and hoping that i've hit the jackpot. The past years i've been trying the mmorpg market, buying allmost every title, hoping that i find a game that can entertain me for months. No luck so far though ;) I'm crossing my fingers that Interplay will release the Fallout online game though, since fallout 1 and 2 tops my top5 list over PC games, ever. Could be interesting.
Anyways.. Anyone else feel the same? You want to play a game, but you just can't find anything that keeps you entertained?
To end this, maybe some of you could recomend some good classic games that has good replayability? Something to keep me entertained for the next couple of weeks? Since i've started on my vecation, and the weather is crap i really need something to kill some time ;)
Cheers!
