I don't think there is a topic dedicated to Nintendo DS games. Since I am an avid NDS gamer, I'm always on the lookout for good games and underrated gems.

I am now playing Infinite Space (38 hours clocked in) and I just love it. It got pretty mediocre reviews, mostly for bland space combat. But it does get interresting, and the story is very good - it starts out small, but then it turns into a galaxy-wide political struggle for power.

Another (quite underrated) game I played on DS is Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. The gameplay is slightly similar to Puzzle Quest, but in my opinion much better - more tactical, less luck-driven, more manageable. I also loved the art style in this game - cartoony fantasy (in a good sense).
I heard this one was pretty funny, but I'm going to have to check Infinite Space out; I love me some sci-fi goodness.

I have finished Dragon quest heroes : rocket slime a month ago. Very entertaining game but a little bit too easy. I wished that finding your friends would be a little bit more complicated and tricky.

My next game will be DQ9, Dark spires or Fire emblem, we'll see.

Huhu, i am playing Dragon Quest 9 right now. For a portable game it is amazing. It has a huge world. But every area has only one town and one dungeon. A little bit too predictable for my taste. The story is very jrpg like. A small introduction, then some fight to get into the game, and then the big worldthreatening desaster. And you are the only hope for the world. But its not linear. You can decide for yourself where you want to go next. It even has a multiplayer mode. The skill system is somewhat grindy. You get some skillpoints every second level (after level 4) to spend on your main skill and 4 weapon skills. Your class skill effects other classes. When you got a little into the game you can change your class in the Everything-new-abbey on the second continent. It has a huge list of craftable items. You can farm material in the world to craft those items. Over all it was worth the money i spent on it. I would give it a 85 heretic rating of 100 possible.

Another very good Rpg is The World ends with you. It even beats the last rpg releases for PC by far.

Have a nice game.

Dragon Quest IX was pretty enjoyable. I liked the story, there's a really great and beautiful looking animated cut scene at one point, and choices and upgrades and crafting of items gives you a really wide selection, and that multiplies even more when you start changing classes to get more experience and better stats and abilities. A very fun game, but the only downside is the grinding. I hate grinding with a passion -- to me, it's nothing more than badly designed busy work to bolster the length of gameplay.
I bought Golden Sun Dark Dawn for full price yesterday. Best 35 bucks ever spent. I am very proud of Camelot's latest game in the series. Truly epic.

Animal Crossing Wild World is a great DS game as well. Cute, quirky, and fun for hours.

I had a great time playing it, but lost all desire to play after I put it down for a few days. This game REALLY requires you to play it every day (even in short bursts). If you don't have the time to do so - don't even bother, you'll just get frustrated and bored with weeding the town.

The same is actually true for Nintendogs - it's a lot like those Tamagotchi things from the 1990's. Yeah, it's cute and fun, but only if you can spare at least 20-30 minutes every single day.
The new 3DS cartridges will hold 8 GB, but rumor has it that Nintendo is enforcing a strict 2 GB limit right now.

Is the dub as bad as I've heard it is?

Argh, I pre-ordered it and it still hasn't arrived (launched on the 10th of December here). Damn snow. D=<

There is no voice acting beyond the intro (well, there might be one or two more voiced scenes) - all dialogues are text-only. This may probably discourage some people (but voice acting is quite rare on DS anyway).

Those games are extremely predictable indeed, but there is a little something that keeps me addicted. The bestiary amuses me and I LOVE the musics. :)
Since I grew up on the NES and SNES there are a ton of DS games I would like to play but I have absolutely no motivation to play them on a hand-held.
I won't lie, the Pokemon games for the DS are some of the most compelling games available. I went a bit crazy with the buy one, get one 50% off on Amazon.com for DS games so I picked up Final Fantasy III, Dragon Quest IX, Etrian Odyssey III, Pokemon Platinum (didn't have a copy of this myself, my kiddo did), and several others. I lean more towards the RPG side of things, but supposedly the Professor Layton games are outstanding.

The DS is compelling for 2 reasons: the games are often built with the idea that your friends will be around to play with you, but don't have to be and you can put them down at a moment's notice (killer feature if you have kids, work emergency, bitchy wife [got rid of that one myself], etc.).

I have a bunch of other so-so JRPGs of varying quality on DS. The Fire Emblem games deserve mention for being some of the hardest freaking strategy games ever. You lose a unit on a map in early game, that character is done, you can't use them again.

The DS having the GBA slot (DS Lite was the last version having this) have expanded gameplay. Most DS Pokemon games will allow you to catch extra Pokemon normally not available in that game if you slot a GBA game that has that Pokemon in it. Also you can migrate your Pokemon from a GBA game right into your DS version, which is awesome since you probably spent some serious time getting and training some of them. I'm not sure of any other examples of GBA to DS goodness but I'll bet it exists.

That handheld looks pretty much as good as your old 8bit did. Don't underestimate being able to put down a game at a moments notice (imagine pausing FFIII midfight just by closing the clamshell). My DS goes with me whenever I'll be waiting for something (doctor's office, whatever) it kills time and beats the hell outta futzing with my phone.

If Pokemon Platinum is not your only Pokemon experience, which one would you recommend ? I'm tempted to try one but I'm afraid that those games might be too easy...

Today I wasn't expecting to buy a game but I saw DQ 4 for 20 bucks and I had a 10 dollars off coupon for that store... So I got it for 10 dollars. Yay. Also I finally got to see the DS XL and it looks very cool. The big screens really make a difference compared to the DS lite that I have.
