I joined GOG this weekend buying Baldur's Gate 2. When it came time to "checkout", my browser window (chrome) locked up. I never saw a screen to download the game.
When I go to "my account" > my games, Baldur's Gate 2 doesn't appear.
I checked my bank statement and TWO identical transactions have appeared for GOG.
I've sent an email to GOG and I got a response saying "I apologize for the inconvenience game should be already available on your account, and as for the extra payment I have notified our account team and they will perform today a refund."
The game is still not listed on my account - and both charges appear on my banking statement.
Someone tell me how to access the game I paid for - then grant me the patience to see the 2nd charge dropped.

Hello,

I'm not from the support team but I will try to help the best I can :)

First, can you please go to www.gog.com/en/account/refresh and tell me if BG2 appeared for you? EDIT: I see that it already did, great :)

s for the refund - it might take up to few days before the payment processing company settles the refund with your bank and the bank cancels the charge (often banks "lock" the charged amount on the account and then wait few days for the transaction to be completed... even in case of a refund they sometimes wait until the "lock" ends). In case you won't get the money back until end of this week, please contact us again and we will get it sorted pronto.

Don't let the slight hickup spoil your GOG experience. All of my purchases haven't caused any problems and I would guess that 99% in general work without a hitch. The recent relaunch might have added some new difficulties butif all fails GOG has the best support on the net!

And the official support guys aren't all that bad too ;-P
I just wanted to thank you folks for the QUICK responses. I was HOPING I'd have a reply by the time I got back from work... I had it minutes later.
Now to play the BEST action/RPG made yet to date, BG2... which, I notice, is running bug-free - much better than when trying to install from my 10+ year old original copies. Whatever has been done to the game to make it playable again works - and I thank anyone involved in the process!
If all goes well, I can see myself picking up the Icewind Dale games, Torment, and Baldur's Gate I as well!!!

Use paypal, I don't think it's possible with that for your account to be charged any more than you specifically tell it.

GOG is known for testing games extensively on Windows XP; often they also work in WIndows 7 but it is not officially supported. In some cases there are still bugs in games left (for example, the sidequest in Sacred still is broken if done wrongly) but where possible they fix it. Since they usually have no access to the source code, mostly compatibility bugs are fixed, in very rare cases (Warlords Battlecry 3) other fixes are applied or at least linked.

Now have fun!

(Also, it's a pity you missed the D&D sale a few weeks ago with 2 games for the price of 1 and Temple of Elemental Evil for free on any purchase)

I have quite a lot of GOGs now, in fact I'd say I have all the one's worth buying, and the only real problem which I still have with a game is Dungeon Keeper 2, because I have an ATI card, I can play it in software mode but it looks so bad it's not worth playing. Apart from DK2, there isn't a game I have installed and playtested which hasn't worked, or had problems which were easily fixed by checking support articles on this site. This includes stuff not officially Windows 7 compatible.

Edit: Oh on second thought, as I understand Blood 2 doesn't work on Win7, which I don't own.

Please stop feeding misinformation to the new users. Many games do indeed support Win7 officially, Baldur's Gate 2 among them.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I'd presume that the GOG games that list support for Win7 (64bit) in their gamecard, are indeed officially supported also in Win7.

One quick example:

http://www.gog.com/gamecard/total_anihilation_commander_pack

says

"Compatible with: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit)"

There are a few games that don't have windows 7 listed as compatible. Those are the ones you should watch out for, or expect some troubles with if you do purchase them and try to run them on Windows 7. Sometimes they do work anyway it's just GOG can't say with any certainty they will.

Ah ok, so he was specifically referring to GOG games that don't list Win7 as the officially supported platform?
