Hear ye, all Zork lovers! On this fine day we present to you the second graphical adventure hailing from the Zork series. Let the rejoicing commence!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/zork_nemesis_the_forbidden_lands]Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands is a first-person perspective, point-and-click adventure game. It was quite different compared to its predecessor, Return to Zork. First of all, instead of showing a still image of the surrounding area, it creates a simulated 360-degree view, making it all the more immersive. Most notably, though, the setting is quite unlike any Zork game that came before Nemesis. It's much more sombre and serious, in stark contrast to the jovial, light-hearted spirit of the prequels. A sizable portion of the Zork fanbase preferred the old atmosphere and Activision heeded the call of the people, but Nemesis is, beyond doubt, a fantastic game in its own right.
Every Zork fan owes it to the series to experience a completely different approach to the classic setting.

jpinsa: I'd love to buy the game but with all this chatter about the DOS vs Windows version, it would be nice if somebody could list the differences, pros / cons etc? Maybe a GOG team member perhaps?

Lafazar: From what I can remember and did research, there is no big difference:
-there is no official subtitle patch for the DOS version.
-saving and loading has to be done via key-combinations instead of an animated dropdown menu

I simply misremembered when I first said the DOS version looks worse than the Windows version. I retracted that statement after playing for a while. Hope that helps.
Thanks Lafazar. I am so keen to play this game. I was worried about the gfx but if there are no differences between dos / win then definitely on my download list soon.
For those on the fence - watch this [and ONLY this] first part of a Zork Nemesis Longplay. Features the intro and a quick look around, with some annotations (the video pauses for them) and no real spoilers as it's only the very beginning. It gives a good feel of the gameplay / atmosphere / narration.

I do not know if it is the full soundtrack as I have not completed the game, but I managed to dig up where the music can be downloaded from here for those that are interested:

If the link provided does not work properly, the link came from this page:

DON'T listen to the music before playing the game. The dialogues are included and there are MASSIVE spoilers!

:S! Thank you for the warning on that... I guess it's good I hadn't tried listening to it or I would have been very angsty with the Zork Library for ruining the game for me. Urgh, now I feel less helpful since I went into posting it not knowing there were spoilers.

I was going to listen to the music last night and now I'm really glad that I didn't. Thank you again for preventing me from having the game ruined. :(

You can separate the tracks containing dialogues (they are easy to identify because they are the short ones and the talking usually starts immediately) and listen only to the others. Wait, I'll make a list of the safe ones...

Edit: Following are the "safe" songs, containing only music:
01, 03, 05, 06, 09, 10, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, 38, 39, 43, 44

You're the best. :) I love the music (Mark Morgan is a personal favorite of mine) so thanks to your work I can still enjoy the music outside the game without having it spoiled completely for me. +1 rep for your help.

Sorry to anyone that might have downloaded it before Lafazar caught this for us.
