For the glory. For the honor. For the exploding bananas!

For those who’d love to taste some spineless violence, get your hands on Team 17 Software’s explosive and entertaining [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/worms_united]Worms United for only $5.99.

Worms is a turn based artillery game populated with the gaming industry’s cutest and most lethal annelids to ever tote a bazooka. The worms are divided into teams with a simple goal: destroy the opposition with a crazy assortment of weapons in a fully destructible environment. Two teams of four begin a deadly shoot-out until one of them has no one left to wiggle. The simplicity of background story (none) and game objectives (kill the other guy) contrasts nicely with the huge number of available weapons, ammo, and special items.

An extensive variety of weapons is something everyone loves, and Worms United doesn’t disappoint. Get your hands on all kinds of explosive mayhem: bazookas, some simple firearms like a shotgun or an Uzi, heavy weapons, grenades, airstrikes, and even special bizarre weapons like banana bombs and exploding sheep. The 'cartoon-like' graphics and light-hearted audio only add up to a perfect storm of violence, comedy, soaring victory and howling defeat that has made the series so famous and appreciated. Whether playing against the computer or--even better-- humiliating your friends via hotseat play, you’ll find this tactical classic game excellent as a coffee break refresher or in longer sessions of madcap fun.

Worms United delivers the first installment in Worms series along with the expansion pack Worms Reinforcements, adding extra elements like a single-player campaign and the ability to add custom levels and soundpacks.

Get Worms: United now for only $5.99 and experience for yourself the glory of a dragon-punch that sends your last opponent off a cliff!
Ok so I couldn't resist :D Bought this yesterday. Seems like I will have a gaming weekend.

lowyhong: Worms World Party vs Worms Armageddon - discuss!
I never got this discussion. World Party is the same as armageddon plus worldwide multiplayer plus new variables to set the game.

I can't see how anyone could say Armageddon is superior to World Party, because they're basically the same games, but World Party has more features...

Unlike WWP, Armageddon is still getting patches, so I guess it is considered more stable or mainstream. T17 hired a guy or two to support it because of the tremendous success Armageddon's been. Though I heard they plan to merge the two engines together once the patch is advanced enough.

Ha, ha, you funny guy... :P
Wishlisted for now, I still have the old cd version somewhere.
For those who are complaining about the missing - and awesome - Boggy B track, there are three alternatives to consider asking GOG.com about:

1. Modify the CD image they're using for the game so the dance track is replaced by Boggy B.
2. If Worms United would support this without spouting a "Wrong/No Disc Inserted" error message, modify the CD image they're using for the game so Boggy B is now one of the tracks on the CD in addition to the Worms United dance track.
3. If it isn't included in the soundtrack already, add Boggy B to the soundtrack included with your purchase of Worms United. (Admittedly more of a compromise, but it would still let people hear that awesome tune!)

Definitely something to consider, IMO...

lowyhong: Worms World Party vs Worms Armageddon - discuss!
It's no contest, really, if it ever was.

Even before Deadcode (later joined by CyberShadow) was entrusted with the WA source code and started churning out updates that brought us full game replays, support for PNG maps, less limited and more detailed customisation, modern OS support and so on, a large part of the online community decided to stick with WA and only pay WWP's WormNET2 occasional visits. On top of a different singleplayer campaign and more trainings, the added Wormpot wheel and multiplayer mission support in WWP were the only tangible improvements, but while the former might have been popular among less experienced players, the veterans actually found some of the options it allowed (I'm looking at you, Super Rope) detrimental to the experience in the long run. Not everyone will agree with this assessment, but personally, as someone who was pretty active on both games, I definitely thought so too at the time. The second thing, multiplayer missions, was a feature that sadly never really took off.

Nowadays, even the most unyielding WWP fans who still play older Worms games have come to terms with this and switched over to WA. Yes, from the point of view of an offline-only player, the above might not make too much of a difference; they might simply have fonder memories of the fluffy WWP menus and that's alright. But as far as actually rereleasing these titles digitally goes, I think it'd be a shame to spend time and resources on anything but bringing Worms Armageddon in all its updated glory to new audiences. In fact, plans for that have been on the table for a while now, but Team17's current official stance is that it's complicated. I remain hopeful.

This is an awesome, awesome game. Better than Worms 2 too in my opinion. Great release!

Heh, for whatever reason I found even Worms Armageddon too ... let's say complicated as opposed to Worms+ :D
*hugs the Gog staff* Thank you so much for this! What a great way to start 2012! I love the entirety of the original Worms series. I can't wait until you release Worms 2 so I can again watch those funny clips before playing.
I've just put my money on it ^^ great addition to my ever-growing collection...
For those of you after the WormSong (Boggy B), I've done a little of the legwork.

Download the above file and replace the WORMS17.OGG in your 'Worms United' game folder. You may want to back up the original first. Up to you.
Enjoy.

The audio file is freely distributable as long as the readme stays with it, so there shouldn't be a problem.
