You might like Syberia 2. It improved on Syberia 1 quite a bit. I do caution those who have never completed the 1rst to do so before playing 2. This IS a series and needs to be played in order to make sense.

This game is very close to 'ideal adventure'. Nice story (and sad one), nice graphics, puzzles are not hard, interesting locations...
Also +1 for multilingual release - that's cool (can we have Original War in Czech please? ;)

I agree. I even thought the graphics weren't that great. Lots of drained colors and sceneries that weren't sufficiently photogenic or just not well enough framed to my taste. But it's a worthy game for anyone who likes his adventures sad and steampunk.

Definitely worth getting for anyone who hasn't played it. Excellent story, puzzles, and beautiful backgrounds.
My only complaint with Syberia is that it's slow. She walks slow, the plot development takes hours, and the story isn't quite full of action. It's a good game, but it requires patience.

I'll wait for 5$ promo, but good release.

Sorry GOG, A week to late. I already bought both adventures from Big Fish Games for 12$. I still haven't had a chance to play it but from the opening it looks very intriguing.

I always got the sense that Syberia is pretty much the archetypal "pre-Adventure Game Renaissance" adventure game (that is, before the indie revival of the genre and the Telltale revolution), with boring environments and obscure, Mystifiedly mechanical puzzles.
That said, a future promo featuring the entire series for 10-15$ might still be something to look forward to...

One thing that's bothered me about adventure games is that they need more interaction. Something like Grand Theft Auto meets King's Quest. Just the part where you have high unpredictability and the game is never the same. The mother of adventure games. Where you make choices like hiring a bodyguard to walk down a forest road or buy him a beer. To make chances less likely he will mug you later on. If he does mug you, go back to the village and confront him. Just as an example. :-)
I know they made King's Quest 8 which kind of follows that line of thinking. But they seemed to be leaning towards full movie games instead of adventure games at the end of Sierra's heyday.

I loved Syberia back in its day, and it's been far too long since I played it last. Hopefully, now that it is on GOG, I will get a chance to play it again sometime in the near future. Another great release for sure! :D

would be so great, and something about it was mentioned about 2010 plans for gog.

I'll definitely be picking this series up when it goes promo. I've been waiting and waiting for these games to appear on GOG since I first joined the site 500 days ago. )

Have you played Indigo Prophecy or Hard Rain? That might be right up your alley (unless the "Simon Says" quicktime events put you off.)
