What remains is the unique focus on population management, in which you need to make sure your subjects and thralls are willing to serve you, or face desertions or even outright rebellion. You also need to divide your populace, so that you have enough workers, peasants and soldiers to support your empire. Lastly, it's quite crucial to utilize spies to undermine your enemies' authority. It's not all about the zerg rush!
