sheepdragon: Intriguing. Might be something I'll get, though for now I think I might have enough games.

Never enough. Can't stop. Won't stop.

Ois: I love this game. First off I tried the demo, struggled with what I was meant to do and gave up in frustration. A month of two later, I saw it in a gameshop, thought it looked interesting and forgetting my previous experience with it picked it up for about $20. Very happy I did.
Epic space battles ensured, large fleets and explosions. Huge research-based tech trees, planetary genocide and colonisation, rather nice looking graphics and engine. Voicework that while not professional, sounded rather decent and did *not* make me want to throttle someone.
If you like a slightly more complex RTS, or space games, grab it and give it a go.
Quick downsides?
1) The Solon Heritage expansion is MP only, no extra SP campaign.
2) Map changes do not carry through. If you max every planet out to Gaia status, they may not be like that on the next mission. unless this was fixed/changed, but that would overpower things quick.
3) Earth Vs, Mars is pretty much the same after the first act.

Add that as a review. ;)

MaverickRazor: Yet another one on my to buy list, good job i've quit smoking, now I might be able to afford all these GOGs.

DrIstvaan: Good one!
Don't you wish to add this to the "You're a gogger if..." list? :-)

I thought the same. :)

That's what my subconsciousness tells me. Unfortunately my logical reasoning has managed to speak louder the last couple of weeks.
I'll probably pick this up at some point. Gives me flashbacks to Master Of Orion.
Excellent timing on this one. I'm about 1 or 2 days off from finishing one of my RPG binges, and was thinking about what strategy game I could play for a change of pace. Then I head to GOG this morning and find Haegemonia, a game I've heard quite a few good things about, as a new release. Sold!
Is this actually a RTS? Or a space sim like Freespace? How do the RTS aspects work out in the game?

You're not a pilot of a fighter but you command fleets of vessels. An RTS with resources, tech-tree and... uh well... lots of space to let your men die for you. ;)
From the screenshots, it looks an awful lot like Homeworld.

Heh-guhh-moan-ia

I plan to write a longer version up. Trying to get away from short 'reviews' like I posted here initially.
I've been meaning to do some others for games I've finished. But since I keep buying new ones, I'm not getting around to it.

I've said it as : "Hey-Jeh-Moan-E'ah" but there are even differences on spelling. English is both wonderful and annoyingly inconsistent.

Vagabond: Less than a fast-food lunch? Where the hell are you buying your fast food?!

In a five star restaurant, it seems, where "fast" means sometime in the near future.
A full fast food meal, even at Burger King / McDonalds, easily costs the equivalent of $9.99 in Norway. In fact, most places it costs more.

ITs a long way from homeworld!
Fleets are smaller and need to be used more tactically since ships generally take a while to build. Movement (from what I remember) is fully 3d, but very much like homeworld its not that much used in 3D movement - mostly just 2D will work well enough (sadly a limitation of RTS games on a 2D moniter ;)
Generals also form part of your setup and you can put them incharge of ships to give bonuses to performance - carefull if your ship gets blown out (I don't think they always make it to the esecape hatch!)
There is an extensive research tree - with a lot of options from planet and government advances to ship weapons and spy methods.
Spies are a key aspect and one should always have at least one or two to give havok to the enemy and protect against the enemy's own spy activities
Planets are not complicated to run, but are a key part of the game, as is holding them. There are also governers to consider putting in charge to give boosters to certain aspects
Resources are more limited and much come from planets, but there are asteriods to mine for additional resources.
ITs 100* more pretty than Homeworld 2 - heck explosions are a joy to watch :)
It's always sounded more like Star Wars Rebellion/Supremacy than Homeworld, just with more RTS controls over the fleet so you have both tactical and strategic action.
Would that be a fair description?

Okay, then I'd say it sounds somewhat like Imperium Galactica 2. Not a bad thing either, in my book.
