Just started playing today and - yes, it feels a bit like being young again, when playing those Indiana Jones games for the first time or Sam & Max.
*SPOILERS GK1 DAY 6*
There is a puzzle on Day 6 that involves Beneigts (or however you spell the New Orleans pastry). This segment is way hyper and too fast for you to complete the puzzle and I can't progress. Any tips? Do I need to cofigure DOS BOX somehow?

Ask in the game forum, not in this thread.

I have to say, this is one hell of a game. Glad this place is around to republish it, or else I never would've played it!
ehhh, I'm not feeling this game at all.
This game is too hard for me. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing without reading an faq . I know it's a click and point adventure game and it;s supposed to be hard, but I can't get into it. It's not just cuz it's hard, it's also ugly, the story hasn't grabbed me and some of the voice acting rubs me the wrong way
Edit- I just read some more of the faq just for day 1 and I would have been wasting my time I honeslty don't understand how I am supposed to know what to do without reading one or getting hints in game.

Yeah well, that's the charm of these old-school games.
You have to actually think for yourself and figure out, what the next logical step would be - especially in this game. :)
Besides, I think there's plenty of hints from the characters in game if you take the time to read/listen to them.
To be honest, some of the voice do annoy me as well. The Voodoo Lady who comments on everything you look at is especially grating. I just turned off all speech after a while. Sierra wasn't quite as good at picking voice actors as LucasArts, that's for sure. Even Tim Curry, who I really admire, is a little over the top with a rather unconvincing accent. In Gabriel Knight III, he's much better.
About the game: yes, that's the way adventure games used to be back then. As long as you can't ruin your game, I don't mind. But I don't like to discover I forgot to pick up some trivial item meaning I got to replay half the game. I don't quite remember if GK1 had such elements - I'm still replaying it right now.

You won't be able to move on to another day unless you have everything you need :)

Glad to hear that :) Then it can be as hard as it wants to be. I use UHS if I get stuck so they gently nudge you in the right direction. More often than not, the solution is something I had thought off but had forgotten :p
I loved the new about Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Father being put on GOG.
I like this game and it's a great adventure game, from the days when Sierra was king of the adventure games.
I still own the original CD of this game but it's great to see it on GOG so that other people can buy and play the game.
