TwilightBard: Lords of Shadow is intended to be a standalone series that starts from it's own beginning. I think it might actually be a better game if you haven't played any of the previous games in the series so you aren't bogged down by all of that nostalgia.
I don't have any nostalgia, quite the contrary. I'd just like to see what the fuss is all about, why is it said to be one of the "best games ever". I've watched some YouTube videos of it, and far I'm not impressed. Maybe it's better when you're actually immersed in it, like with many other games.
well, it depends which game you mean. The original was an enjoyable, but difficult game, and each game changed in it's own way, up until Symphony. They all have their quirks, but I'm amongst those who say, they really didn't need to attached the Castlevania title to Lords of Shadow

Which games did watch youtube videos of? There are the classic Castlevania games which are straight action games (and never really grabbed me TBH), then there are the Metroidvania ones (pretty much all the 2D ones from Symphony of the Night onwards) which kept the action but added in non-linear exploration in the style of Metroid games.

So... some of the fuss you've heard will be from fans of the classic ones and some of it will be from those like me who are fans of the Metroidvania ones.

Charon121: Are there any previous instalments available on PC? Through emulation or something? This series seems to be so praised, I can't believe PC gamers are oblivious to it.

I disagree with that, it is best when one is a fan of the series so one can actually appreciate the little callbacks here and there! I mean, even the walk animation is a 3d version of the classic Belmont Walk.
That looks pretty damn good. Im glad is coming to PC because i dont have a current gen console.
Wait, a 3D Castlevania game was made after Castlevania 64? I'm so behind the times, I have no idea what games are released on consoles anymore. Last system I owned was a GameCube. People killed Castlevania 64 but after you got use to the controls, it wasn't that bad.

Adzeth: and this, but it is not to be mentioned when children may be around.
Wow, that is some terrible sound.

A couple of forgettable PS2 ones, one with Trevor Belmont (I think) and one with... Uh.. Shit.

I forget. I told you they were forgettable.

It's not too bad for Lords of Shadow because they worked and felt well thought out. In Mirror of Fate, they feel like someone went through a check list going 'Ok, what should this castle have to make it feel like an actual castlevania game?'.

Demo is like 15 minutes and much of those are videos. So if people have slow internet connection, It's not perhaps the best idea to download 2 gigs because of this. =)

Still, it looked awesome and on my machine worked really fluidly so it doesn't seem to be a bad port.
It probably is not Symphony of the night but seemed fun enough button smasher. =)
