It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hey
I have a Samsung N110 and I tried installing Oblivion and the oldoblivion mod and it crashes on startup. I have the newest netbook there is so i am not sure why it is not working. suggestions?
On the subject of netbooks. I'm curious...
Is it worth setting up Windows 7 on a netbook as opposed to XP? I mean, unless you just want the latest, is it really more beneficial than Windows XP? IE- use less resources, less memory, better compatibility, better performance, etc. XP is cheaper I do know.
Reason I ask, some of the newer games or software that might require at least Windows 7 would most likely require more power than the current netbooks can dish out. My netbook seems to be running just fine with XP. And most of the games I run require no higher than XP. I've not yet used Windows 7, so I'm clueless about it. I've heard nothing but good things about 7 so I'm curious. I've seen people put Vista on their netbook, but everything was turned off and set to classic view to get better performance, I don't understand why they didn't just save some money and get XP instead and still get the same compatibility for the software they were running. The way I see it, if you must make sacrifices to run the OS, what kind of sacrifices are you going to have to make on gaming?
Is anyone able to make hands-on comparisons? Is it true you can uninstall IE? that would make a huge advantage in my opinion. FireFox all the way. Hmm, guess I need to get over to microsoft sometime and do some reading.
Also, it's funny to think they would add a "Vista" compatibility as much as it's dispised by users. Although I see no problems with it myself other than requires a mass amount of memory compared to other OS's, then again, I kept Aero on (I like it) so maybe that's why mine uses up almost 2 gigs of ram at idle.
EDIT:: Ooops, I guess I missed the post about SSD optimization, there would be a big plus for me over XP

Netbooks, ahh netbooks...
Ok first I'm assuming you're not going for an ION netbook (superior IMO, but not out for another month or so in most places) so that leaves us with an Atom 270/280 and a GMA950. (Not counting the n10j which has the price that you may as well get a full note book)
You have a couple of options, some netbooks come with solid state drives, and others standard 2.5 laptop drives (usually 160gb). IMO get the 2.5 inch models, you can always upgrade to a 2.5 inch solid state drive if you want.
Keep an eye on the battery size, I wouldn't go for anything other less than a 6-cell.
The biggest headache that people seem to run into with netbooks is the screen resolution... that x600 is a PIA for most people (Some games even if they'll run with the Atom/GMA won't run because of the resolution). You may want to look at the HP netbooks, their 10inch line has a $30 USD upgrade to a 1366x768 screen. That right there will open a lot of gaming doors, not to mention full 720p resolution (with a bit to spare).
With that in mind one of the first things you'll want to do with a netbook is upgrade the ram to 2GB (cheap and well worth it). Also I'm assuming you went with a 2.5inch drive and not a solid state one, or you'll end up hurting for space.
Also check out GMABooster, and play with OCing the Atom (The 270's OC a LOT better than the 280's, due to locked multipliers). Turn off Search Indexing, Disable NTSP last access, turn off the GUI eye candy (System Properties (right click on my computer), advanced, performance, set for best performance). Clean up the startup apps, and defrag regularly.
Finally if you run into a game requiring T&L yet not needing high power, check out "3D ANALYZE" it's a Hardware T&L emulator that can be used on Netbooks to trick games into running.
Finally have fun with it. :) Get some good old games (gee, I can't think of where to buy any of those) and some newer ones. and also look into a good case/sling bag and a small external mouse if you like.
So any ideas guys? My netbook is the newest model out there with 1 gig of ram i dont see why it wouldnt work
