I'm on a continuous quest to find the games I used to play when I was younger. Games like Mach 3, , Dragon Spirit and the obscure Ballgame 2 by "The Toxic Dream" -- of which I can't even find any screenshots. I don't really care if they were actually any good (I also cherish the horrible Dino: Lost in Bedrock). I'm doing this simply out of nostalgia. I pretty much have been able to track down every game, but there are still a few whose title I just can't seem to find out, googling the little details I remember about them.
In one of these, a side-scroller from, I estimate, around 1994, you played a character, some kind of robot, perhaps, that looked like it had stepped straight out of the game One Must Fall 2097, and whom you had to guide, in I think the first level, alongside a brown-colored rock face, which was covered with here and there a couple of bushes and shrubs.
In this game you could find and collect blue diamond-shaped objects. Interesting thing was, I believe, that you could only advance, meaning the screen would only 'scroll', if you had beaten the baddies within that particular screen. This meant, at least I think, that you couldn't go back to look for any of the collectibles you might have forgotten. I have no idea how you had to take out your enemies... whether it was by jumping, shooting or whatever, I simply don't recall.
It looked as if the environment was pre-rendered, similar to the first level of Heart of Darkness, but much cruder, and the brown color of the mountain wall was of a much darker shade. I'm not entirely sure if your surroundings were really pre-rendered because the environment, although detailed, may have been genuine 3d as well, which would have been noticeable whenever you advanced.
As you can read, lots of maybe's and I don't know's here, but the details I am pretty sure about are:
- side-scroller from around 1994;
- rock face partially covered with nearby bushes and shrubs as one of the levels, that, zoomed out, resembles something like this;
- fleshed out environments;
- you could collect blue diamond-shaped objects.

I'm hoping you experienced fellow-GOGers are willing and/or able to help me out. Does anyone have any idea of what possible game I'm talking about?
Thanks in advance!

Ok, I thought this was allowed, seeing as there's another thread with the same subject on this board. But I guess I should post in the thread you suggested... My bad.
No, I think you can make your own thread, as it is likely that a new thread will garner more attention and get a response where the other many people might not read.
My thought anyway.
If GOG makes an official thread for this stuff then I would say use it, until then it the users choice to make a thread or not.
It could be one of the Turrican games (link points to Turrican II), except the diamonds are orange, not blue.

No, but I can see why you'd think that. The graphics were better, more state of the art for that time. I'm not even sure whether your character was really a robot. There's a good chance my memories are playing tricks with me on that regard.
I sometimes think if I didn't dream up the entire game, since as to this day I've never been able to find it.

It all comes back to me now. I actually loathed this game.
