GOG, please make every DOSBOX titles new "Graphic mode setup" EXEs, so that we can get into those games in windowed mode directly. Although we know that after entering those games just manually pressing Alt+Enter will do, but thats not the perfect solution, isnt it?

I know that some newly enlisted DOS games (like Sydicate) do have the new "Graphic mode setup" EXEs, which has the option to choose between Full screen and Window mode, but those earlier enlisted ones(like King's Quest) don't.

The screenshot I attached here are both the Older exe and New one.

You don't need the setup program, you just change

fullscreen=true

to

fullscreen=false

in the .conf file in the game directory.

thx for the help, it does work.

but in some game directory there are 2 or 3 CONF files, do i need to change them all for each game?

and how do I launch each DOS game with DOSBOX without the short cut which was generated upon the GOG installation?

I do know how to use DOSBOX before I came to GOG years ago, but GOG versions are somehow different.

Usually if there are multiple .conf files for one game, they're for multiplayer or setup programs so it depends entirely on whether you want all of them in a window. Changing only one of them (but the right one) should be sufficient if you only ever run the game with the main play shortcut.

I'm not sure how they're different... you'd run DOSBox, use the mount program to mount the game's folder to C, then run the game.

what I mean is... how do I generate a new shortcut if I lost the original shortcut after I installing the GOG game? if I need to mount and run every GOG game with those DOSBOX commands, dont you think thats too much trouble for running a GOG game?

i have bunch of free abandonware games, and it's OK for me to mount those games every time I want to play. but ... now these are GOG games after all, you know, we pay for them.

I suggest GOG to make the installer to automaticlly generate a BACKUP shortcut icon in each game's directory, not only on desktop, so that if we lost the shourcut icon on the desktop, we still can easily go to the directory to run the shortcut.

Just like this in the attachment:

Sorry, I assumed that by 'without the shortcut', you meant without a shortcut. Making the shortcut is fairly easy, you just make a shortcut to DOSBox, open the properties of the shortcut and add the following after the contents of the 'Target' field:

-conf whatevertheconffileiscalled.conf -noconsole

Then add the path of the game folder to the 'Start in' field.

Everything now works out. Dont know how to thank you but... THANK YOU!
