It's almost impossible not to see any ads of fuckbook, although I still don't know if there's an actual site with that name. I dislike facebook as it is, a port themed derivative sounds utterly unappealing.
I use yahoo mail for many years now and I'm quite satisfied with them. They have the best interface compared to known alternatives (gmail and hotmail mainly) and I haven't seen any spam outside the spam folder for good while now. As SimonG said though you must use good sense on where you make your address public.
And I'm pretty sure you can sign out of messenger while using the mail interface. Beneath the mailbox folders there's a "Online Contacts" list that has a yellow thunder symbol, meaning that you have that app activated. If you click that symbol you will get signed out of messenger. So far it stays deactivated every time I log back anew. There is also an option on the top left menu ("Hi, [name]" thingy) that specifically says "Sign Out of Messenger".
Whoa... long diatribe it became...

Guys. It's not the email spam. I never get that. It's if I miss to block a friend request. Then that person will start chatting to me the instant I log into the email service. I didn't even know there was a Yahoo! messenger program until this thread and haven't joined facebook.
This wouldn't be a problem if I didn't get LOTS of random friend requests all the time. :(
I was thinking if maybe Yahoo had a new list or something where all their users was if they hadn't ticked a Anonymous spot somewhere. Or another similar strange feature. Basically if I had missed to disable a feature somewhere.
Thank you AndyBuzz! I clicked the yellow thunder symbol and so far so good. Lets see how long it lasts. :)
