When I was young I'm used to hate this series...I found it boring.
Then, some years ago, I bought the Cyan pack from Steam, and tried again to play it.
And it was amazing.
Myst games are all about exploration, puzzle soling (hard puzzle solving) and a very good plot.
I haven't played the original Myst because I can't managed to run it on my PC, but instead I played Real Myst, that is basically the exactly same game, with a new age, and 3D support instead of static screen.
I loved this game. It's the only game where I read ALL documents...and when I will have some money, I will buy the books too.
Riven is still magnificent, it will requires you month to be completed without a guide.
Then there are Myst 3 and 4, by Ubisoft: some people hate this games, but I still love them, I think that Myst 4 is one of the best chapter of the series after the first two titles.
Then there is Uru, is amazing how I enjoyed this game. It starts slowly, but then exploring the world of Uru will become a drug.
Finally Myst 5, that basically is a sequel tu Uru. A good game with a good ending for this saga, but not one of the best chapters.
In the end yes, but all the games you can, but remember: this games are about exploration, there are a few dialogues (well in Myst 3 and 4 there are a lot), but basically you are always alone and you will learn the story of Myst by reading documents and searching the location, understanding how the game world works.
It's a great saga, but not for all players.
